CDV delete-Do you actually need an adapter like BMS?

Like the title says, is there any reason to pay for the BMS or similar CDV delete adapter? It seems that you can just connect the lines together, so why bother spending the money on another part? Am I missing something?

It just makes it easier to connect the line together.

Garage List
Not really, Take the stock one out, punch out the restrictor and put in back in. Easy

I just removed the plastic CDV and reconnected the lines, they hook right up. The picture below I'm holding the CDV reversed but you can see the connections are the same with or without the plastic piece being there.

Exactly the same way as I've done and don't have any ill effect.

What exactly does this do? Seen lots of threads but never been able to get a clear answer on how this improves drivability.

The clutch delay valve is this little plastic orifice that restricts the flow of fluid to the slave cylinder. When the valve is removed so is the restriction. Under normal driving situations the removal of this delay valve was barely noticeable to me but if you drive hard or dump the clutch it seemed to allow harder/faster clutch grab.

I see. Because I've read some people say the that it helps smooth out the 1-2 shift. Are we sure this isn't placebo lol

Not a placebo. I couldn't change gears properly in my wagon to save my life when I bought it.

Removed the clutch choke two weeks in and it made an indescribable improvement.

Not suggesting it really matters if it's in there or not on an absolute basis, but my muscle memory just did not sync whatsoever with the car until I removed the choke.

Also... don't bother buying anything. Just remove the hunk of plastic and plug the lines back together. Don't lose the wire spring clips.

Awesome. Saving myself a little bit then since I was planning on buying the BMS part. Had it in my head that I MUST be missing something because why else would someone produce a part like that.....
