Water Pump Settlement - FINALLY!

I filed my claim in the class action water pump litigation last December 2020
and just wanted you all to know, I received my $1000 settlement check today.
Never thought it would come through. It's dated Oct 1st.

What were the parameters of the water-pump lawsuit? Mine failed, and I'm intrigued.

It doesn't matter at this point. I was curious too. The timeframe to file a claim passed in May.

Ha, yes, yes. Deadline to claim? May 5th. My water pump up and died...on August 8th.

Are you sure that's not coolant, it's very similar in color, right? Unless you're using BMW coolant.

I remember hearing about this and reading that the N52 water pumps aren't part of the settlement.

Right... because they're so much more reliable!

Yes it is too bad, because the N51/N52 pumps should be covered as well.

These electric pumps are all junk. And B58 engine went back to mechanical because the mpg savings was just not worth it.

If you watch the VehicularDIY YouTube channel, he does a breakdown between versions. His theory was that BMW changed it back, not because it was a better system, but an unbroken one with less legal premise and more ability to handle higher HP.

I tend to agree

I used VehicularDIY's videos among others on the oil pan gasket. Very helpful.

I guess this is the one on the N54 vs B58. Actually more like an evolution in designs for BMW's recent turbo engines (N54 -> N55 -> B58).

Well, after watching, the N54 (and N55) sucked a lot more than I originally expected. Too bad BMW pulled kindergarten stunts like these, but they have to learn somewhere. I still prefer the Audi 3.0T, and now I really love the 3.0T!

Is this serious or a joke? Maybe I'm missing the sarcasm so I have to ask. This is literally the ONLY post/comment/report of someone getting the settlement check.

Luckily, (2021.10.11) I've just heard about it...actually paid a dealership to r&r waterpump & thermostat, grrr. They stated my trans valvebody needed sommat & that was a ¢ or two.

Coulda used a $1k stage-2 check...what would have that added first?

I almost forgot I had submitted to be included in the settlement. I sent an email to contact administrator on Sept 30,2021, asking if I was was going to be reimbursed and if so when? I got a response on Oct 4,2021, saying the check is in the mail and should arrive by oct 8,2021. Opened the mailbox on the 8th and there was my check for $1k.

Man I’ve been away from this section way too long and had no idea. My WP was replaced around the 52k mile range and I’m at 109k. I should buy one at FCP as preventative maintenance. Heck, I would have used that $1k in stocks.

I got a check too. Believe me, I was surprised as well.

Not as much as OP, but the amount from the bill I submitted was less. I think I saw the whole thing here, then contacted my shop to see if they can get a copy of the bill from that far back. They did, and I sent it in through that class action website they had. It was denied, I followed up, and they reassessed it. And I got a check...... Which will go directly back into keeping my E92 going. The circle of life.

Gonna have to contact them myself. I did all the paperwork early on and haven't seen anything yet.

Thanks for the updates!!

I remember September 9th being one of their deadlines.

I sent all my paperwork early, and they sent me a letter in August stating that my information was insufficient. After that, I followed up through email, and it was sorted out.

If you submitted, you should have at least received a letter or email stating that you were denied or approved. Seems weird that there was nothing. Good luck, and stay on them!

I believe the only thing I've received so far was an update that the settlement was approved, but it seemed like a general notice.

This was their site where they had everything set up. I'd email them and ask.

All I know is that I uploaded the documents a long time ago. Then in August I got a rejection letter, saying my documents were insufficient, and I had until September 9th to remedy it. After that I emailed them, and received a confirmation email that it was sorted. Finally a check this month. Hope that helps. It's all I know, or can suggest, other than trying to contact the firm handling the case directly.

I emailed them yesterday using the "info@…" address. Hopefully I'll hear back from them soon. Thank you for the link and I'll update my results if I hear back
