Questions about Online Tracking

well, i just placed my order few hours ago.
Got my production number and went online to register for an Owner Account.

That all went well except for one thing, the current spec is shown as jet black w/ black interior and w/ no options at all. is this normal for a newly ordered car? or is this a car that dealer already ordered but waiting for changes to be made by the order i placed today.

anyone who has experience of a special ordered car can tell me? thanks alot

The site is very slow at updating so sometimes it would show the wrong or missing options. You could call 1-800-831-1117 to find out if the car is optioned correctly.

I picked up my E90 a few weeks ago. I ordered it about a month before it was actually produced. At no time during the entire process, including now, did BMW Owner's Circle show the correct options. The colors were correct, however.

So, I would only worry if the colors are different than the ones you want.

I ordered mine in December and I had the same problem. I called the dealer or the 800 number and they told me it takes a while for the web site to show accurate info. Sure enough, about a week later, everything was ok.

Now you have the LOOOOOOOOOOONGEST wait of your life. Only those of us that have ordered our cars understand how long the wait seems to be.

Typically the dealer will re-format a current order they have in the system while changes can still be made which gives you a jump start for earlier production. Mine was a white 328i coupe before it came around on Owners Circle.

Good luck.

BMW re-uses production numbers, some people even find that their production number shows a 2005 car just wait for a bit for it to be updated

What had happen was there was a cancellation of another order that was in the system but still within the cancellable time period, and they just switched your order in. You should be happy, because you just jumped couple spaces in line.

And no thats not normal procedure for new orders, mine came out exactly the way I ordered it online when it showed.

thanks man. but the strange thing is that there is not even a trim choice for the spec of my car, the car is showing as completely bare other than being jet black and has black dakota leather.

i gonna give BMW a call in the morning. but how much time would this overtaking of a pervious order shorten? because i wont be able to pick up the car until first week of new year and definitely dont want the dealer to sell my car while i am away.

Welcome to the club!

When I ordered mine, the production number showed a black car with an automatic transmission. Not what I wanted. Within a few days, it was as it should be. Give it a bit of time.

This is a great example of "delayed gratification". After waiting impatiently for weeks, you'll be able to sit in your new car and drive it home.

Then you'll enter a second delayed gratification period as you wait for the 2000 km/1200 miles break-in period to be over. But this one isn't nearly as bad as waiting for your car.

I already saw my car during my ED trip and everything was correct. Even now, my car shows no options even though I ordered a fully loaded car.

I wouldn't worry.

Break-in is a controversial topic. Some believe you should follow it; others believe you should ignore it.
