Ok the white looks great in video despite the stupid black runners. That's good because the wife favors metallic white.

Love it, could do without the black side skirts also; designer stated he wanted to separate the G42 from other BMWs, claims sportier look. Either way Im ok, only 230i with non M Sports pkg gets body color

Controversial opinion but bmw should have added more exhaust pops and bangs. Leave the adult exhaust for the m340i

Finally a good and acceptable design from BMW Wish they did some interior tweaks too to distance it a bit from the standard offering

I'm excited for any new content, or info on the 2, helps make the waiting more tolerable. I'm pleasantly surprised with the stock exhaust sound in Sport mode (does it really need any other modes? ), but agree that it needs more pops and crackles. I wish the M-Performance exhaust was available as I'd add it to my car.
I think the car looks better on video than it does in pictures, and imagine it'll look even better in person. I think the interior is leap and bounds ahead of the last 2, but the dash/controls are the same as every other BMW, I assume this is done for cost savings and design continuity. I do really think they did a great job on the door panels, they are very different from other BMWs and fit the sporty character of the car. I know not everyone likes the M-colors on the door panel, but I think it looks cool. I get what everyone has been saying about the Tacora red leather, it really is much darker than coral red! I have Coral Red now and love it and was disappointed at first. But seeing it in this video I think I really like it, its a bit subdued but looks richer (both color and quality).

I’m happy to see how well the M797 wheels on the white car matches the muscular lines of the car. I always thought the original M235i was let down by tiny looking rear wheels on a stubby high waisted body. No such problems anymore.
Not the M797 but same dimensions. The E60 was another very muscular design that if fitted with the standard 17” looked awful, like a linebacker in ladies shoes but with the 18” or even better the M5s 19s it looked awesomely brutish. Last edited by solstice; 10-30-2021 at 04:01 PM.. |

I think forced pops and bangs is starting to fall out of popularity somewhat, and personally I'm happy for it. They're fun to an extent, but were artificially added to make up for the fact that modern cars sound worse.
I'm more excited about recent real sound improvements like firewall tubes to bring intake noise into the cabin (new BRZ/86, 911) and improving exhausts on turbos (S58 vs S55). Prefer that to artificial bandaids (forced pop/bangs, sound through speakers). |
