M240i Shipping status

I am excited! My CA emailed today to tell me my car has been loaded onto a ship and will be heading our way very soon! He said it's generally a week to get to port, and depending on how things go at port it's generally about a week but sometimes closer to 2 weeks for it to arrive at the dealership. So My car should be there 2nd or 3rd week of November. I'm still waiting to hear if they want to hold it until after the reveal date on 11/20.

Mine was ready for transport for over a week. Then it skipped 3 dots since this morning and is in transit. My sales associate emailed saying it's in status 195 and should hit Jersey city port mid November and I should have the car before the end of November

Just put the vin in on bmw website.

Go go bmw website
Sign in
Go to owners
Add vehicle
Enter vin or production number.
If you have allocation your sale person can give you that
And boom track it

My m240i order was placed on October 25, and is now scheduled to begin production week of November 1st. I called BMW Genius number (in US) to find out the scheduled build week (44).

my dealer has an allocation for my vehicle, but expected build isn't until week 48. At what point does BMW usually assign a VIN #?? thanks a lot

I got my vin as soon as they had allocation which was mid sept. If think of they have an allocation they have a vin or at least a production number.

VIN should be assigned as soon as it starts production, but you don't need the VIN to start tracking it online. Just a production #, which your dealer already has if they have an allocation

If its like Ford when scheduled it gets a VIN. But it can be days or many weeks between scheduling and build.

Crap, mine has been sitting in the finished production phase for 7-9 days now. It was handed over to sales over a week ago so probably hasn't been updated for any movement is my guess. The "dots" for what position its in seem to jump along at odd times and can't figure it out. Mine was built on the second week of October so Hoping it catches up with you guys here. Good luck to everyone here and here is hoping you guys see your ride sooner than later!

There are a number of reasons why a finished car could be held and not move on to shipping. There could be a hold, like a parts hold, there could be a campaign, or the vehicle may need to go to Repair before being shipped, or there may be that many vehicles on the lot that have to be shipped that it's taking a while to get them all out. Don't worry, before you know it you'll be enjoying your new car too!

I have an M240i on the way, but I spoke with a Genius today and the 230i's have arrived here in southern California. My dealership has 2 at the processing center in Oxnard and I'm hoping mine is there too.

The Genius couldn't give me my vehicle info because my dealership CA won't give me a build number or Vin. I was informed 2 weeks ago that my car was waiting to be shipped.

You should get a production number when the car is ordered. And when the build starts you should get a VIN assigned.

You can track the build progress through paint, assembly, transit, etc. online via My BMW in your Garage.

I'd ask to speak to the manager if your CA can't (or won't) give you your production number/VIN. Should be VERY readily accessible.

They didn't give you a copy of the build sheet, or anything with info on your order? They shouldn't withhold that from you, if you've been assigned the allocation you have a right to know.

All I have is a copy (poorly printed) of the build sheet and a receipt for my deposit. The build sheet has a reference number, but it wasn't pulled in when they printed it.

I'm definitely heading there after work.
