Acoustic Protection for Pedestrians?

Is the UK version supposed to have a "motor" noise when at slow speeds and reversing? . Mine does not and I can't see an option. In the handbook it says it does depending on market version.

According to this it's law that all EVs make a sound. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/i...-warning-noise

I can't see any settings at all for it 🤔

Yes the car by law must have a sound at low speeds. You need to get BMW to have a look at it. Maybe its just a glitch in the software.

Yes up to 30 km/h you hear a "spaceship" kind of sound. It's not loud nor disturbing.

You can set the sound to “Sport” than you will hear a motor sound when accelerating and braking at higher speeds. I recall the default setting is related to drive mode. Since I drive in Economy I hardly heard it. Just fun, nothing more. Unfortunately you cannot put the drive in “N” and step on the pedal to make a noise Would be great.

To experience the sound outside I asked my wife to park the car once and I stood outside. It is not a very loud sound.

I thought the spaceship kinda sound on the outside is the "natural" sound of the electric motor?
Did BMW tweak the motor to get this sound on purpose?

Changing driving mode (sport, comfort, ..) only affects the volume of the interior sound, not on the outside.

That sound is coming from an exterior speaker not from the electric motor. The iconic sounds, like in sports mode, are interior only and can be switched off (luckily ;-))
