M240i order not entering production

I've been waiting for the car to go into production and it's been scheduled forever. The dealer told me that it should start on week 46 the latest. Do they not update the tracking on time? Could this be a chip shortage issue? Anyone else waiting on their car?

I placed my order almost 3 weeks ago and it's still scheduled for production. I got a production number immediately and it has not moved in status.

These delays are now pretty common. My car was scheduled for production on October 25, with build scheduled first for week 44, then week 47, now week 49. You can obtain updated information for your build from the BMW Genius line (in the US, 844-443-6487). You just need to have your build number available.

Mine has been scheduled for production since the week of October 10th.
I gave up and found an incoming dealer ordered car somewhere else.

Same issue here. Placed order October 16th and was told week 47 by BMW Genius. Still says scheduled for production as of today.

Mine was ordered on Monday 11/22 at 1PM and entered production with an assigned VIN on Tuesday 11/23 by 10AM. It's still sitting at that stage though, so I'm starting to wonder if that means anything concrete. The next stage is "Exterior body assembly begins" but it's not there yet.

This actually caused me a problem. The dealer said I would have a couple of days to modify my order if I wanted. I had decided to add the cooling and high performance tire package after studying the tire options in detail but since the VIN was assigned it was too late according to them.

Garage List
If its anything like Fords order system, the build can be scheduled to the plant and VIN assigned many weeks before its actually scheduled in the plant and build started. Delays could be related to the holidays, parts issues or chip shortages.

Yep. Mine sat for two weeks at “production begins” before it actually started moving through production. This is apparently normal. I wouldn’t worry and would try not to obsess over the tracker too much.
