Fuel Mileage

I'm curious, what's everyone's fuel range when the tanks on full?

Maybe the gas in California is trash, but with a full tank using premium the highest range I've had was around 280 miles.

Mine said something like that when it was brand new from the dealer (it might have been more than 400 miles), but after driving it I guess it figured it was never going to achieve that and says something like 295 miles on refueling.

Its definitely interesting this car won't tell you the MPG. It just tells you the miles since refueling. I would say 280 miles is about right for the last 2 tanks. That being said Asheville isn't the flattest place on earth and I'm not driving like a granny.

If you watched motoman's youtube video review on youtube, he commented on his low 20's fuel economy as well.

What? The car doesn't tell you MPG anymore? Not in the cluster, or under vehicle status? well that sucks, look at my MPG every fill up on my 340. And my 340 w/MPPSK still averages around 27mpg, these cars only get around 21?

I just had to go on a little drive down to greenville, SC and decided to torture myself with the eco pro mode. I think the gas gauge is a little "smart" for my taste. After driving in eco pro mode for a bit the gas gauge actually went back up. I think the gas gauge is not a straight up fuel volume indication but a calculated "if you drive like this, you have this much left" gauge.

Is that 280 miles per full tank run down to the last drop or quarter tank left.

Fuel range is a projection based on your historical driving efficiency. This has been used for sometime. If you drive using more fuel-- your range at fill up will show less based on that history.

Not just fuel range estimates, but the actual gas gauge moves based on which driving mode you are using. I watched my gas gauge move upwards after starting my drive and switching to eco pro. The fuel gauge isn't solely a physical representation of the fuel volume of your tank.

I have not run the tank down to empty (zero miles of range) before refueling so I will make an effort to do 1 tank and see what my actual fuel range is with my usual driving, instead of going off the estimated range.
