Hey folks. I'm just curious - the new 2 series being such a different type of car, what is the demographic that decided to order this car right when it launched. Basically curious to know, what type of person sought this car out before even test driving one or seeing it in person - like I did.

I'm 45, recently married, no kids. Live in downtown Chicago. Ordered as my daily driver. My wife drives a 2022 m340i which we just purchased. I'm driving her 2013 328xi while I wait for my m240i.

Thanks for humoring me

Just about when the car I ordered comes in I’ll be turning 70. No kids. Traded-in my 330i xdrive. Should be a nice birthday present! If life and the numbers are working for you, then why not? You only go around once.

I'm in early 60s and no kids at home, will be my 4th BMW, all Coupes.

My wife has SUV and I like having a personal sports car. We also own 2008 Mustang GT/Calif Special Vert but that is "Our" special beach car... we live in coastal S. Carolina. I don't need any of the larger BMWs, this 2 series is nice size, I had a 2018 230i and loved it

I had been wondering about this too. I'm 67, married and 2 kids fledged. 2022 m240i will be my 3rd BMW: 2003 325i, 2016 228i previously. My wife, a sculptor, drives a 2017 Honda Ridgeline.

I haven't ordered one, but I'm looking to buy a M240 X-drive.

39, married, no kids. The wife drives an F30 328, but is looking to buy a..... M240 X-drive.

Is it weird that we both want the same car? At least we want different colors!

I'll add to the conversation - married, early 50's, one kid nearly out of HS.

SKP1545 I am curious though; what makes you say this is "such a different type of car"? Not passing judgement, just genuinely curious.

48, married, no kids, this seems to be the largest demographic represented so far. M240 will be my daily and my 5th BMW, combined it will be our 9th.

When i say different, they aren't making many and it's a car that does not appeal to the masses. Most people want a suv or a luxury sedan for 50k+ range. Also most dealers are getting just a handful of allocations.

Forgot to include my history of bmws. Went from an x6 (my first bmw) to a m4 then to a x3m which I just traded in to buy my wife's 2022 m340i. I only did it because I basically got back what I paid for it 3 years ago in trade in value. Crazy right now. So I'm driving her 2013 328xi until my new one comes in. Then we are giving that car to my 16 year old niece.
