How charge up to 100%

Hi, loving my new ix3. Charged it several times at home and from public chargers but charge only goes to 80%. I know it’s best to keep it between 20-80% but sometimes I want to be able to charge it to 100%. How?

One of the options in the charging settings is Target Charge %. They recommend 80% for daily use, and 100% for longer journeys. I suspect yours is set to 80%.

Change it to 100% and forget about it. Ridiculous they peddle this myth that you charge to 80%

Sorry but it’s not a myth, yes it will take a long time to degrade batteries but biggest long term battery degradation is long term fast charging and long term charging beyond 80%

Sorry what I meant was, a myth that it is realistically going to be a problem for most owners considering the majority of ownership is pcp/lease these days. With massively reduced range in the winter, then only changing to 80% is just ludicrous. Charge it and enjoy it!

By the time it starts to affect the life of batteries in brand new EVs, there will be a whole new industry of garages servicing batteries and replacing the dud cells.

Remember 100% is not actually 100%. It's actually somewhere around 90%.

Charging to 100% isn't the issue. Leaving it charged at 100% is the issue. If you plan to drive the car after charging to 100% then it's fine. If it's going to sit on the drive for a few days, charge it to 80%.

Can you change the target charge via the app? Or do you actually have to go into the car to change it?

It has to be done via the iDrive Car Settings.

What percentage of the battery is actually charged is fairly irrelevant. If it is as full as we can get it, then that's 100% to all intents and purposes.
