Lease Payment?

For those who have leased, and don't mind sharing, what is your payment? And what were your terms?

My quote is for ~$820/mo, $0dn, 3/36, $53020 MSRP, $500 discount.

This seems very high for a 2, but plugging in the current numbers for December of 51% residual, and .00111 money factor and using Lease Hackers calculator this doesn't seem far off sadly.

With my M240 sitting in GA for 1 month now as of 12/9 due to minor (grille) damage with no ETA of when it might ship, I'm starting to have thoughts of possibly buying out my 340i and keeping it for another 18-24 months until I can get a G87 M2.

My lease numbers were similar when i factor in my MSRP is 4k more than yours, and I have high sales tax where I am (roughly around 9%). I think the rule of thumb is a lease changes $30 for every $1k change in in the sales price. I think my lease quote for 0 down, 36/10 was right around $950.

My biggest issue is that for an extra $100, i can finance the car over 5 years at .9% APR with $0 down (and deal with the one year's worth of risk for being out of warranty; it is a BMW, so presumably it won't fall apart). I just don't love the lease numbers right now, which is not surprising in this economic climate.

I would consider buying out your M340, especially if you want an M2 and have no desire to purchase the 240 as opposed to lease. My issue is I need a car right now, which is why i am buying the 240 instead of waiting for the M2. I will own this thing after five years, sell it for 25k, and hopefully get my hands on M2 once the supply chain has normalized and getting a car at a respectable discount off MSRP is a more viable option.

I'll bet your lease buyout is a lot lower than what you could sell the 340 for in the market. i would buyout and keep, or even sell for a nice $$ and then make the 240 a lot easier to buy

Nope. Between the major online car resellers, and 2- local dealers the closest offer I've received is $2000 below the residual value of the 340. I think the ZHP package isn't something known and doesn't increase the value even though it was a $6995 option.

Things like the ZHP package really boosting value mostly come into play down the line when your vehicle is becoming scarce in the market and enthusiasts are specifically looking for your model/generation to buy.

Right now most people buying a used 3 year old 340i are those who can’t afford a new one, and are generally less picky about the options. It would be priced higher than one without the package, because of its higher initial MSRP, but many are not specifically seeking it out.

Here's mine:

*** $880(with taxes). Includes windshield and lease end protection since I have the HUD, which is around $4k to replace.

***This is my first BMW and I put 6k down… yes, I know it's high and probably should have gotten a broker, but I had the cash and it's done now. I've leased in the past and have never negotiated a $0 down payment and this includes my wife's CX- 5 and 3 Infiniti's I leased before I owned my prior vehicle (2018 Mustang GT).

***Paid MSRP*** $55k, rounded up. Dealerships are marking up 2 - 10 percent here in Orange County.

*** 36 months at 12k miles per year.

Yep, I will admit the $6k down with the monthly payment wasn't a completely pleasant feeling at all, but I love the car.

God willing, my next car will be an M3 or M4 and hopefully I'll be able to make some connections here so that I don't screw myself.

I agree 100%. The only thing is there were only 100 ZHP's made, but the dealers don't care about finding the right enthusiast, its just another used 340i to them, sad.

Thank you for sharing. I guess if they are going for 10% over MSRP your down payment basically brought you back to +/- MSRP, or essentially equal to $0 down. I'm assuming they rolled the drive offs into the lease and bumped the money factor. I'm glad you have a positive attitude and love the car!

On your next next M3, maybe check with a broker. I am in contact with a broker that a local member on the 3-forum recommended, while they can't come up with an M240 (surprise), they did offer a new M3 6MT at $5k over MSRP, or $1160/mo for 3/36. Probably a decent deal in this market, but times are not normal.

sorry i don't mean to hijack this thread, but what you said about the windshield caught my attention. So the HUD makes the windshield way more expensive to replace huh? does that mean it wouldn't be covered by my comprehensive insurance coverage like a normal windshield?

Based on what I was told the HUD makes the windshield more expensive. I doubt it's $4k even with labor, but I did conduct some market research and the windshield itself seems to be over $1k.

Depending on your insurance it more than likely will cover OEM HUD windshield. I have geico with a fairly low deductible ($250), but I didn't want to risk having any issues with them and whoever would replace it. With the dealership coverage they give me a loaner and fix it.

Just in case you're wondering, the dealership wrapped in an extra $20 a month into my payment for that.

At $20/mo they almost got the cost of a windshield built in. I have AIG and have had windshields done on more than one BMW, even with HUD, and my Boxster and they have all been $0 out of pocket and they even provided OEM glass when I requested it.

Eh, live and learn. Dealers are like sharks, they will attack at any opportunity or blood in the water. But like you said, you live in a different market than a lot of us with markups, etc. plus you love your car and that's what really matters! I think we've all been in your position at least once.

So anyone else wanna share your lease details? LOL.

At least in Michigan, the RV is only 51%, ouch. I believe 10k bumps to 54%, but I have a hard enough time with 12k miles. For comparison, the M340 is 58% at 36k, I guess BMW doesn't have a lot of faith in the future value of the 2-series.

It’s a small coupe. It’s residual value will be lower than a sedan (like the 3 series) or a crossover. Coupes are some of the least popular body styles.

Not a criticism of the lease deals disclosed in this thread, but more a comment on the car market in general:

As much as I like the G42, I cannot comprehend paying $800/ month or more for a 2 series. It's just insane to me that this is where we are at.

I completely agree! I feel this should be a mid-high $600 lease in a regular world. Anyway, in my case, my 340i lease expired in September so I either buy it out or lease a new BMW because they only allow a 2 month extension unless you have another BMW on the way.
