Any model builders/collectors?
I'm sure many of you have amassed diecast car models like I have over the years. I have countless diecast cars/trucks dating back to childhood stored/displayed between my childhood bedroom and my apartment. Lucky to have parents that fostered my obsession.
Recently, I've reignited my childhood passion of legos and started getting into their Lego Technic line that range from architecture, to automobiles, Starwars, etc. It's a fun way to build a model without the hassle of plastic kit models where you have to fuss with adhesives, paints, tiny little parts, etc. Of course, you lose some of the authentic details w/ legos but good enough for me. Anyways, aside from cars, I was obsessed with early 20th century ocean liners, airplanes, trains, etc. So I damn near shit myself w/ excitement when Lego announced their Titanic set. I was so obsessed as a kid that I had several books on the matter, used to draw the ship out on several pieces of paper taped together, and would go to the library often to look for books on the ships and whatever history I could dig up. I begged to see James Cameron's film in '97 and my parents awkwardly not knowing how to explain to a child that it was a romance film, not a documentary. Not surprising that I had few friends growing up lol I got this on pre-order and it cost me a pretty penny, but I can't hide how excited I am about it. I see people reselling them for a massive mark up on the internet but I can't wait to finish mine. Unfortunately EOY has been insane for me with work so this will take time to build, but wanted to share. Over 9000 pieces, and will span 4'6 in length when complete. |

I had WWII airplanes hanging from my bedroom ceiling as a kid. Tanks and other vehicles on the shelves. I was big into models then. Not even sure what ever happened to them.

What do you do with it when you’re done?
That’s always been my thing. I really enjoy putting it together, but then I don’t know why to do. Especially with something like that ship. Where the heck am I going to put a 4’ boat? |

Great Thread. I too have amassed over 50 diecast and revell models over the years and I also recently began collecting Lego Technic and have almost all the models except for this Porsche. You can't find it anywhere unless you want to pay through the nose. It's going for over $900 on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Technic-...a-406360111578 |

I had plenty of 1/18 scale cars as a kid, but as an adult, my collection becomes less for playing with and more for looking at. Unfortunately, my kids are as tempted as ever.

I was heavily into building models back in the 80’s when I was a kid. No pics to show but I’ve made/painted:

I have a small collection of 1:18's that are the same thing as the actual cars I own. I also built a Lego Technic Defender a few months ago |

I do Lego, primarily Star Wars, a couple of Batmobiles as well. Starting when my Son was born 21 years ago. There’s also a Panigale in there somewhere.
I have some 1:18 Diecast, all Australian Touring cars of the ‘70’s. Majority are Allan Moffat’s, a Canadian who moved out here way back when and all are signed by him. |

I've done a lot of models. When I was a kid I did quite a few military jets, planes, lots of cars. Last year I did a Datsun 720 truck. I've got a '75 620 truck at home waiting to be built, but I want to find a way to 3d print a VQ35 engine to drop in it because I have a real 620 in my garage getting a VQ35 turbo swap.
Lego is releasing a technic BMW M1000RR that I'm super stoked about. https://brickset.com/article/67947/t...00-rr-revealed!

Some of my latest additions... its a bit eclectic but I've decided to focus on 1\64 scale for now, particularly the Tomica Limited Vintage Neo line, as the build quality, detailing, authenticity and smooth rolling with rubber tires and working suspension is just too much for me to stay with other brands.

I built hundreds of models as a kid. My son likes Lego's, so we have built a few of those together.
