I saw it pop up on the specs for my car yesterday. Digging around, it may signify deletion of touch screen on the central display. BMW warns about this on the configurator website: "Some vehicles may be equipped with touchscreen; however, some vehicles built in late 2021 may not be equipped with touchscreen." I am not 100% certain about this--I've run across different interpretations, so I plan to call the Genius Line to find out.

Got it on mine too. There's speculation that it's touch screen deletion on the 3 series forums. However the 2 was never mentioned in the list to get the touch screen axe. While I consider the feature useless since the idrive controller is so good, it is annoying. Here's hoping the delete is just for the passenger lumbar.

The scary part is my option list doesn't include the backup camera.

Not sure where you are but in the US backup cameras are federally mandated equipment. So it is standard on the car and BMW cannot sell vehicles in the market with the camera missing/deleted. If they have a supply issue with that feature then BMW has to park them and wait until they get the parts before shipping out.

It shows up on my car also ... I wasn't sure how much I would use it so not real upset if it is indeed the touchscreen. Very interested in hearing what you find out

Never had one...used to using the main controller. Will admit IDrive 7 has many more features than my 2014 IDrive 4. I emailed my CA asking about Special Identification 2 ... he said he would check and get back to me.

Just spoke to a BMW Genius, who told me that Special Identification 2 is an internal code that has no significance in terms of items deleted from the build order. He also said that my car should move from Quality Check to Final Assembly today.

Woo thanks for the update. I'll take that as a win!

Also, what's the number to talk to a genius? My car has been in final assembly for a week.

1 (844) 443-6487. You need to drill pretty far down the options to finally reach an agent.

What are the magic words to get to an agent? I thought I was doing well with "Check Production Status" and the polite computer voice told me to enter the production number on the website and then promptly hung up on me (NOT polite). Tried other ways but to no avail.

Thanks for the help!

I just pressed "0" when prompted to speak to an agent.

Just spoke to a genius too and they couldn't find anything modified on my build and didn't read anything into that special identification 2 designation. I did modify the order after placing it so maybe it's as simple as that?

Got some interesting Intel that there's a work order for the car at the US port processing center. Genius said its quicker to send the part to the US vs trying to get it to the factories and it takes about a day to install. But.. There could be delay in the part getting there due to shortages. Sounds like something pretty necessary since they said it would wait in processing until part could be installed. I pressed to see what it was, but no luck.

On the good news side, no options were deleted other than passenger lumbar, and surprise option is included - digital key.

Oooo I am hoping mine does the same. We were in the same boat for having the car stuck in quality check.

Hmmm, mine has been in US port since 11/9, I wonder if it's related? My CA told me it's due to a damaged grille, but you'd think they could get, and pop in, a grille in less than a month.

I do. Do you? Someone without ACC got their car to final assembly before us and they ordered later so I'm assuming it has to do with that option.

Most of the dealer ordered cars are not coming with ACC

I didn't get ACC, but you may be onto something. I just went through the configurator and ACC is no longer an available option.
