Anyone Else Having Issues Waiting?

I have a deposit on a car that went into production at the end of September, it's a HEA spec car the dealer ordered. My 340 lease was up at the end of September so I figured I'd be good with a few-week extension. The was supposed to arrive at the dealer around 11/10.

The car got to Brunswick, GA on 11/9, about a week late. On 11/16 there was a work order opened for what I'm told was due to minor damage and the grille had to be replaced. I'm not thrilled about my car being damaged before I even got it, but it's not a deal-breaker. It's now 12/17 and in a month there has been no change, no updates, and no ETA of when this car might actually leave GA.

I realize these are all small issues in the big picture, but I'm starting to lose my excitement for this car. Has anyone else had similar feelings about their order? My eye is starting to wander... I've found a base model 2021 M3 manual, and, though quite different, a 2021 Porsche Macan that is nicely equipped. Both are on the ground and available, for now. The M240 has a lot more power than the Macan, but a lot less than the M3. The M3 is not cheap! The Macan is more like a tall hatch than an SUV and drives like a Porsche.

I've only got a few weeks before I got into extension month 4 on my 340, you are only allowed 6 months even if you have a new BMW on order. I really just want to make a choice and move on. I have a feeling this post will sound more negative than I intend it to be, I'm just wondering if I'm alone in my situation?

Lol the wait game really really sucks, I ordered my M3 in June and am still waiting.

Read how I ended up also ordering an M240i here https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1877990

I spend entirely too much time building cars on websites.

Oh and I forgot to add, that I've now had my M240i delayed at least 5 weeks and it's not looking good at getting the M3 this year. Why did I do this to myself

My Dad used to say that as well. I couldn't agree more if this is as bad as things get then life is very good! But it's still very frustrating.

My M240 entered quality check yesterday, order was placed late October and received week #48 build date. Guess its only 1-2 weeks late so not bad. Hopefully see by end of January

It certainly seems there are some areas within 500 miles of you that have m240's in stock. Was your spec'd build so unique a missing feature on an available one would turn you off of picking one up today?

I forget which post it was but someone mentioned available models somewhere in the midwest, maybe Wisconsin.

My 2 month wait felt like agony, and I can't imagine the frustration knowing your wait has been prolonged because it was damaged, and I am sure you won't be compensated for the experience. I don't blame you for considering an alternative vehicle considering yours is damaged.

Here's hoping your situation improves soon.

I think we are same week, mine hit final assembly yesterday, hopefully to my east coast dealer by mid to end of January. I'd only like it by February due to a very low pre-approval financing rate that would "age out" first week of February.

I don't recall that post. I've checked dealer websites in MI, OH, IL, and IN, and a couple in PA and there are almost none listed in inventory. I was trying to stay within a days driving distance round trip. There were a few but the main issue was color choices. I REALLY don't want a black interior, ever since I've had some alternative interior options, black just seems so boring now.

We have a good dealer and CA, and it never hurts to have a relationship, so I'd prefer to buy a BMW through them if possible. However, if some other option was available I'm open.

Thats great to hear yours is moving along. I just don't understand how some cars move relatively fast through this process and others are stuck many weeks delays. Very Very Frustrated.

My guess is when they get the parts, they go to the assembly line first. It probably takes longer to retrofit parts to cars once they've rolled off the line.

Well, I think I'm going to go look at the Macan and Macan S, maybe some last day of the year deals to make it worth it to jump ship.

Well, I'm "jumping ship", sorry everyone. My CA called and offered me a PB/Oyster special order M340 that just became available, and after working out a good deal (4% below MSRP and base MF + .00015 + $1000 Loyalty) I couldn't resist and agreed to take the M340 when it arrives in roughly 2 weeks. The dealer still has no idea what the hold-up is, or when the M240 may ship, but if anyone is looking for one and able to come to MI PM me and I can give you the dealers info (The car is BG/TR, 792's, HEA spec). I still plan to get either an M2 or M3 in about 2 years, so I'll still be lurking.

Picked up the M340 today, and man is it nice. If the M240 is the same but slightly sportier its one heck of a car too! My CA agreed to let me know when/if my former M240 arrives, I told him I want to come see it and take it for a test drive if not already sold. Heres a couple of pics, not quite as sporty from front side as the M240, but the rear end is 10x better looking . FWIW, my former M240 is still in port in GA since 11/9 and still no updates on when it may actually ship.

Congratulations! I'm glad you're into a new car.
Pro's and con's to every model, but most important is to be driving one!
That blue is gorgeous!

I hear ya! I placed my deposit on the M240 the end of Sept, and who knows how long I'd be waiting if I had held out. Another deciding factor for me was this M340 is much better equipped and has things the M240 doesn't like Premium, HK audio, etc. Congrats on your M240! What interior did you choose?

Enjoy your M340. It's a great car, and very quick. Mine is loaded and all black. My identical M240 went to Final Assembly yesterday after being in QC since 1/8 (ordered in October). I'm prepared for further delays. When it's on the way, I'll sell my black 2016 M235ixdrive with 9100 miles.
