New owners; C'mon, step it up!

Seems lately, all the posting is about cars stuck in production, missing features, etc.

For those of us still patiently waiting, I ask a favor of those of you who have received their cars, PLEASE post some positive stuff!

Driving impressions, other driver's reactions,
heck, talk about the seatbelts! Anything to keep us enthusiastic would be appreciated!

I realize your all probably too busy out having fun driving, but have pity on us, give us a little hope! Thanks!

All I'll say is it looks even better in person. It'll be worth the wait.

I agree.

I wish current owners would post more real life pics of their cars so we can see it in the flesh.

Mostly I want to see more BSM pics cause that's my spec!

Agree 100%. I bought the car because I needed a new car today (otherwise would have waited for an M3 allocation), and this struck me as a fun, spirited driving option for the price. Never really loved the look of the rear quarter panel and back. When I saw it in person for the first time, I said to myself that it looks pretty damn good all around, and WAY better in person.

The really funny thing is when we picked up the car (me, my fiancé, and my mom was in town), it was sitting in the fancy dealership customer delivery area. I walked right by the car without realizing, but my mom and fiancé stood there looking at the car, commenting how great it looked, what car is that, etc. It was only when they called me back and I looked at it when I said "I think that is our car. That is definitely our car." It was a great feeling to see the car for the first time and be impressed by its looks.

The back doesn't photograph well for some reason, but it is really good looking in person in my opinion (assuming you are willing to step outside the box that says a BMW needs to look like BMW's of past, 2s of past, etc.).

As far as driving impressions, I am still working through the break in period, so haven't really stomped on it, but when i give it a 1/3 throttle up to ~4000 RPMs, you can tell this thing has some juice. I find the ride to be pleasant in comfort, seats are comfy and supportive (did a 4 hour drive in it the other day), and the transmission is really compliant/intelligent (the tranny is the industry standard more or less, so not surprising). The car will easily cruise at 95 MPH without you even noticing (the insulation is pretty good for a small car; i had a 2017 C43 AMG and that car had a "tin can" feel as far as road noise, when you closed the door, etc.). This car feels way more substantial from a build quality perspective.

Sport plus mode is great in my opinion. You can really feel the suspension tighten up without being too punitive. I know the car is heavy, but it hides its weight well, probably partially through the overboosted steering feel. I live in the mountains and did some spirited mountain driving the other day with 180 degree switchbacks and the car was a blast with its low end torque and quick steering feel. You can tell the Xdrive has a rear drive bias when you roll onto the throttle coming out of a corner. I am on 18s with pirelli winter tires, so I fully expect the driving experience to improve with 19s and summer tires (PS4S).

Also, the full LED headlights are fantastic.

Two nits I have at the moment:
1. The HK soundsystem, while great in sound quality, doesn't seem to get that loud when I am playing spotify through Carplay or iDrive. I have to turn the volume past 50% to be able to discern any lyrics. Strikes me as odd that i have the volume at 75% to listen to my music (and I don't listen to music at a loud volume at all).
2. The transmission feels a little jerky under 10 MPH (think cruising around the parking lot). Doesn't matter whether i am in comfort or sport mode. When i let off the gas at really low speeds while in fully automatic, there is a bit of a lurch sometimes in first gear before it settles in, or going from 2nd to 1st gear on a casual stop. It is not every time, but i do notice it. Not sure what that is about (a tightly geared transmission?). To be clear, it is nothing like the old M3s with the DCTs, it is just something i haven't experienced before in a generally standard automatic transmission (my C43 AMG did not do this).

Also, full disclosure, the car has already gone back to the dealership because the GPS wasn't working. It's fixed now, but still a pain to take a new car back to the dealer a couple of days later. I chalk it up to electronic gremlins.

All in all, get excited. I find it hard to believe that anyone will be disappointed when they see their car, or drive it for the first time.

same thing in my x3 M40i. it's annoying. it downshifts above 1 krpm.
this does not happen when transmission in manual mode. it downshifts to 1st at the lowest allowable engine rpm and doesn't jerk.

one thing i'd like to ask. is the left foot rest offset to the outside? is it awkwardly placed? like previous 2er?

I'll post more but I named mine Welches 😂

My HUGE gripe right now is my HK sound system buzzes on the RH Rear seat. Assembly wasn't good enough and i need to rip it apart and add some felt tape.

Other than that coming from a F80 M3 manual with no fancy tech like live nav and apple car play its a breath of fresh air for me. Cars is very fast and I wasnt even expecting this to actually buck up when accelerating. Eco pro mode is like the car literally turns into a prius which is nice for long drives but Im never going to use it haha but it is a nice option to have. Either get 35mpg for 15 lol

Thanks for the great writeup .... you certainly have made me more excited !!

Another question I have for all you lucky people who have taken delivery: what is the one feature the car has that you weren't aware of that you discovered that you really love.

Makes me so happy driving this thing. I'm new to BMW so I'm not sure if this is common across all BMW's but I love how driver focused it is. It's truly the perfect amount of performance and comfort.

Also - I love the 792's! Could they be a bit wider? Yes but they look incredible!

Whenever you have time, could you post some more angles of your car? I also got a BSM and there is not many photos of it

1200 miles in

Loving the car so far. It's a pleasure to drive every day. The steering feel is amazing after coming from a "cheaper" electromechanical steering rack. The throttle does not feel overly sensitive. In comfort mode you can pull out and gently accelerate, and requesting the next level of power is easy to discern. I have gone over the 1200 miles but I still haven't put the throttle to the floor. 75% throttle seems to be more than enough power to quickly exceed the speed limit. For a slushbox automatic the gear shifts seem quick and I enjoy using the paddle shifters more than I expected coming from daily driving a manual for the last 7 years. I got the sensatec and am loving the comfort of the seats for the driver. The cupholder placement leaves a little to be desired but I understand with the larger armrest and all the buttons near the shift makes a more central placement impossible.

The heads up display and comfort access are two features I really have been enjoying as far as creature comforts coming from an older car. The myBMW app has worked well for me in spite of the thousands of bad reviews on Google Play store.

In spite of me requesting the car not be washed or detailed upon delivery, the dealer did "detail" the car. To my horror, I later discovered that swirl marks were put on the paint from bumper to bumper. The dealership owned up to what happened and paid for paint correction at a local detail shop. The BSM looks exceptional now and I am really happy with how glossy the paint looks.

Excellent thread! I've been thinking the same thing lately, that this forum has died except for the few of us winning about when we'll get our cars. . Those that have shared your experience so far, thank you too! It does help the rest of us. I have really been starting to lose interest in my car lately with everything going on, but seeing your pics and hearing your opinions is bringing back some of the excitement again.

I hate when dealers add swirls to vehicles.. i always state do not wash when going in for any service. But for dealer prep that should NOT happen

Yeah my sales manager knew that I did not want the car touched, but sadly was out of the office the afternoon it arrived and when she came in the following morning, they had already moved the car through inspection and had fully detailed it.

They did give me an new X3 with 15 miles on it to drive for 3 days and paid for all my gas in my car and the loaner, so I feel like the dealer did pretty well to fix the problem considering the reputation of most dealers (all brands) these days. I definitely feel like the paint correction helped even out some of the orange peel and it definitely has a glossier appearance when its freshly washed. I will be sure to post some more photos.

Photo note: I love the little gold accents in the Adaptive LED headlights, which are amazing in appearance and performance.

It's a very capable daily driver but honestly I'm a little underwhelmed by the steering and handling coming from an Alfa Giulia QV. Probably not a fair comparison.

Seats are great
Steering wheel feels good in your hands
Throttle response in sport plus mode is awesome.
Acceleration from a stop is plenty fast.
All the tech works great. (remote start never worked on my Alfa)

Does the Guilia QV compare more to the M3, or M340? How was the reliability? I just looked up a local dealer and see they have $1750 rebates and are leasing around $650/mo.

What do you like more about your new M240 compared to your past Alpha?

Good 4 2 reasons,

Thanks for the photos.

I’ve got one coming (2 months) just like it, Black Sapphire Metallic and Cognac interior. Although I did get bi-color wheels and red calipers. The more I see the BSM and Cognac the more I think I made the right choice “for me”.

3-years ago I test-drove an Alpha Giulia. I thought it was easily the best handling car when compared to a BMW 330i, Audi A5, Jag XE, which I also test-drove. So I can believe what you are feeling.

I did end up with the BMW 330i because I felt it was better in most other areas.

I’m sure the Alfa and something like a Porsche Cayman handle better than the M240i but they are 25k to 40k more expensive.

I love the cognac interior. After being in two '22 BMWs with vernasca leather the imperfections really stood out to my eye and didn't feel any better. I love how my BSM and photos I've seen of the BG appear different colors with changing light outside. That being said, boy the black does get dirty quickly.

Took delivery last Friday. Absolutely loving it. I'm coming from a Lexus SUV and it honestly rides better. Sure it's a smaller car so you might feel some more bumps but it's super comfortable.

It's my first ever sports car but it is SO fast. I've floored it a couple times and it is honestly insane. Can't wait to get past the 1200 miles so I can drive however I want.

MPG is not bad, about the same as my past SUV;
25.5 mpg.

I'll take some better pictures when I can!
