Door and dash trim strip: Replaceable?

Hi

Am about to take delivery of a 2017 F30 335d MSport. it has the blue strip across the dash and doors which I am not really a big fan of.

is it possible to replace only this on the doors? I know the strip on the dash is attached to the facia trim elements

many thanks

They can be replaced, but it's not easy. They're attached to the door cards with plastic rivets. I wrapped mine.

And they are quite cheap if you want to replace the door strips.. I just ordered red ones for 30 each.

What color did you wrap them? Also do you have a picture? I’m planning on wrapping mine

I wrapped mine with 'silver' CF. I got a few samples of wrap to try and match the aluminum trim on the dash, none looked right, so I decided to go with something different.

I used the same wrap on the sunglass holder that replaced the grab handle above the driver's door.

Woah that is pretty cool! I’m thinking about wrapping my blue door trim to gloss black. I have zero skills wrapping anything so we’ll see how that turns out. Just wanted to see if it was possible. I’ll post an update pic in the next few weeks.

Two necessities:

Hair dryers aren't hot enough, painter's heat guns are too hot. Practice your technique on something before doing it on the car. The best way is to secure the heat gun to your workbench and wave the part and wrap in the heat stream, so you hold the part in one hand while stretching the wrap with the other. You can't do that with the door trim, but you hardly need to stretch that anyway except at the ends. You still heat it as you press it in place, but only enough to make it more pliable.

Can you point me in the right direction for the wrap?

Amazon. I prefer 3M Di-Noc, as it's heavier than most, so less likely to rip when you're stretching it.
