G42 2022 M240i Dragy fun: 0-60 and 1/8 mile (vs RS3 and Supra times)
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I am going to post some other dragy sheets for comparison purposes. let me say this, I am genuinely impressed! She's a chonky girl, but she will get up and move!! It is actually faster than it feels. I did the runs, then looked down and was like "WTF!" Comparison cars are 18 RS3 (with the better transmission and LC than 19+) both stock and Unitronic stg 1+ 93 ECU stg 2 TCU, and a 21 Supra 3.0 with JB4 map 2 with 295/35 falken RT 660 tires. All of these runs are unprepped surfaces no burnouts, but driving warm tires. With out further ado, cheers: |

It's honestly fairly incredible how quick cars are today.
The old Supra, RX7, 3000GT, and even NSX I idolized in high school were 5.0-5.2 second 0-60's. At <3.9 the M240i is in the same league as an older Viper, 911 GT3, R8, or even Modena 360. I honestly do not see the need for more straight-line speed, especially as the vast majority of my driving would be in the city anyways. Anyways, more specifically I'm impressed how much it beats the Supra off the line (AWD FTW). Understandably the lighter Supra seems to be catching up right after though. |

The AWD is why I bought this car. Definitely impressed with the grip and launch control from a dig. The Supra here isn't stock either. JB4 map 2, which is +4 lbs of boost. The M240 is certainly impressive in stock form and has a hell of an upside with the B58TU under the hood and AWD.

Are you planning on running a JB4 unit on the M240? Wondering if one can get away with a JB4 stage 1 (with 91 octane) on the newer B58 engine as i assume boost has already been upped to get the increased HP. I am currently running a jb4 unit on my GTI and like it. Just wondering if folks have played with the JB unit on this revamped B58 engine and if stage 1 would be pushing it beyond what 91 octane would allow. (91 is all we can get here, yes i could add e85 but that is uncommon as well.)
thanks for posting |

I can neither confirm nor deny that the JB4 is in the garage waiting for break in oil change and inspection to be completed this later this week before install.
I will say this about the JB4. They are very octane dependent. Even on 93 they will tend to pull timing when upping the boost without some sort of octane booster or E85 blend. Definitely wouldn't go above map 1 (+3 psi) without adding some juice. |

Like Hendo says, it is very octane dependent, NO way with octane 91 you can run ANY map with the JB4. I'm frankly wondering if even the stage 1 map can be run with octane 91 without pulling timing, especially in hot weather.

Traction is the main reason I ditched it for the M240. The interior and tech is just a bonus lol |

The M240 xDrive is only 50 lighter than the M340 RWD. But it's about 150lbs lighter than the M340 xDrive.

The Supra is around 117 MPH so 113 is not so good. Needs to be able to trap higher speeds I reckon for the way it accelerates off the line and with the amount of power and and Torque it has

Modern tyres and electronics make a huge difference, despite 3/400 kg more to drag.

Still think the new s3/rs3 will outcompete this new 2 series. Small 4 door sedan, that seemingly feels and looks more like a classic 3 series than bmw's current 3 series. Interior looks great as well. Just my .02.

The S3? Not so much. Of course it depends on what you mean by outcompetes. https://g42.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1882028
