Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum. It is my pleasure to meet you all. I have a quick question. I just placed an order to get the M240i. But I couldn't see the Rear cross-traffic alert system option. Is it part of the Active Driving Assistant (5AS)? It is a bummer if it is not available. Appreciate for any input. Thank you so much.

Unfortunately, the Rear cross-traffic alert is not listed on the BMW website:

Active Driving Assistant includes Frontal Collision Warning, Active Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, and Speed Limit Info

I am wondering if it is removed due to the chip shortage. I called my salesman. He told me cross-traffic alert is not a feature I can get.

From BMW USA’s 2 series coupe website (Under “Proactive Safety” tab under Technology):


Keep your mind on the drive with the new 2 Series Coupe's suite of standard driving assistance features, including Active Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Frontal Collision Warning.

So the car should have it. Your salesmen might think you can’t get it because he is looking at build options but it is standard equipment. I haven’t heard about this feature being removed because of chip shortages. Automakers usually try and remove luxury/“nice to have” features over safety features when it comes to chip issues.
