Carwow range test
The carwow team take a load of cars including the IX3 and drive them on british roads in the winter till the batteries are empty. Pretty good range i thought, its not the best but certainly near the top.
Ive had my car a few weeks ix3 prem and havent had the chance to take it for a run due to covid so pleased to see the actual range is higher on a run compared to the estimated. |

It also help up well against the Q4, which was specifically designed as an electric car. Do you know what speed do they do on the motorways? On a 400 mile trip I did a steady 70 mph and struggled to get over 2.9m/kWh! |

There was shots in the video when they showed the dash of 40 and 60ish mph on some of the cars, and they were almost always in the inside lane. So certainly not true motorway speeds.
Suppose doesn't really matter for that test as long as all the cars doing similar speeds etc. But for getting an idea of range I wouldn't take their figures as any sort of benchmark. |

Why would they not do the range test at actual motorway speeds? The average speed shown on one of the cars is 45mph (over 2 hours), who does that on a motorway?!

Haha, was going to say the same!
You only have to hit one traffic jam or road-works for your average speed to plummet below 50mph, in the UK at the moment this is almost a certainty. Also - there is nothing wrong with driving at 50mph on the motorway if you you don't have a deadline! |
