OBD compatibility with iX3
Is anyone aware of any OBD dongles that are compatible with the iX3? I'd like to use live data with ABRP (A Better Route Planner) and I need an OBD dongle to do that...thanks!

Instead of using an OBD dongle, you could instead link the car with the Tronity App. Tronity will pull live data from BMW Connected Drive and synchronise this with ABRP. I tried this out for a little while before my trial of Tronity ran out but it worked great. ABRP was able to pull live SoC, location etc.

Tronity is great, use it for notifications when charging on URC's etc, but only works when the car is stopped, no live data while the vehicle is 'turned on', limitation of the BMW api. Like you can't get the cars location whilst it's driving.

That sounds like a real limitation. One of the reasons for linking it to ABRP would be for real time charge % updates influencing the route planning.

Works fine if planning while stopped (before you set off etc) but yup, the current api is rather restricted on that front. No realtime data whilst on the move.

I'm also speaking with the developer of the 'mi3' app (intended for BMW i3) to see if he can get it working with the iX3...I understand its to do with identifying the correct PID codes. |
