Eldor from FCP is what I did, but that was before these were out and now you can fit B58 coils which are better: https://nexsysmotorsport.com/n-s55-i...l-upgrade-kit/

I'm looking for the N55? (or is it S55) Eldors. I know about the Nexys system, but 400 is steep for a FBO car that will likely see no benefit. It looks nice though

I'm just saying, if you're feeling generous and want to donate them to me LOL

I feel you on the cost, I have different plans with the car so I'm just future proofing it, even then maybe unnecessary, I need new coils regardless so the extra 300$ for harness and brackets and support small business, I'm about it especially since MHD has a tune for them now, my only thing is getting replacement boots as they're not the standard stock ones

It's plug and play, the kit comes with wiring harness, brackets and boots

Atleast the n54 comes with boots, I think the n55 is same, I saw someone complain they tore a boot and needs a new one already

I think the N55 version didn't require a modification of the boots.

The n55 required you to take the b58 boot off and install the longer boot cause the b58 boot is too short.. I just install the b58 coil on my car

Plug and play (adapter + coil boots that are longer), add ignition dwell time for coils in MHD. (This is what the check box does). Easier said and done. Waiting to see if the swell time from the b48/b58 for the coils can be input into bm3, and will have this on the n20 as well.

Want the space back in my engine bay instead of the side mounted PR coils. Also makes it easier to swap for OEM parts down the road.

These have been working great for me. Definitely better than the Delphi’s: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...or-12138657273

I say why not, I'm not going big power and they are better than the Delphi units.

I mean even decent power seems people are doing just fine, I guess when or if the time comes the extra expense won't really be an issue
Screw it, can get an inlet and diverter for the savings

how's eldor better than delphi?

i'm still on original delphi coils @ 69k miles with no obvious issues, but if any give me trouble i'd replace them all. i don't think coils are ever mentioned on any manufacturer service manual, yet i've personally had to replace recently on a mazda 3 (90k miles) and a subaru impreza.

There’s a couple vids comparing them, and I think I remember a test someone did.

I also wouldn’t replace coils unless I had an issue. For me, when I first started working on the Stg 2+ E30 beta maps I had these tiny micro-misfires I could feel that wouldn’t even show up in the logs. I don’t think most folks would even notice it. So, I replaced my OEM Delphi with Eldor and it went away.

As we continued to increase boost thru map revisions those micro-misfires came back (again, nothing showing in the logs), so I then replaced my set of NGK’s that had been gapped to 0.021” with a new set gapped to 0.026” based on input from F87source and the micro misfires went away completely. Been holding strong all the way thru last year on the Stg 2+ E30 map, and now thru the Stg 2+ E50 beta tune that probably has my car ~490whp.

So, that little experiment told me the Eldor’s had a bit more juice than the Delphi’s, plus they’re the new BMW OEM coil, I believe.
