I am beyond pissed
On Saturday, i was checking my balances and noticed my savings account was lighter than it had been. I asked my wife if she had purchased something or took out some money. Her reply was no.
Luckily the bank does record the canceled checks and withdraw forms.
I checked and there it was, an in person withdraw from my account.
Thelma withdrew cash from my account, in person at the bank.
I would assume that the teller would at the very least verify the name on the account……..but nope.
It could have been so much worse.

It could have been a clerical error, I guess - maybe the teller fat-fingered your account number by mistake somehow. But whatever, hopefully the bank will rectify this quickly for you.

What it looks like is Thelma wrote my account number on the slip and the teller did not verify the name

That's weird, I haven't seen a paper slip at my bank for years now. I just swipe my bank card and the teller asks me how much do I want and from which account.

Yeah at least you caught it in time. I don't check my bank accounts sometimes for weeks. Everything is automatically paid and deposited.

And yet it took me well over a week to get access to my father's checking accounts, in the Family trust name, and I am a trustee.

But, I can make deposits any and all day long . . .

Last year I fat fingered a mobile check deposit and added $10 to it accidently. I could find no way to fix it, so I called. "Awwwww......they will catch it when it hits and correct it." OK. They didn't. I called 2 more times and the lazy people answering just kept putting it off and not even looking into it.

After 6 months - I just added it to my account. You'd expect a bank to catch something like that, even if I DIDN'T call 3 times to tell them.

I often wonder how many times that has happened.

I always thought it was stupid that some banks in the US require you to fill out a withdrawal slip, Canada had done away with that for decades, in Canada you just go up to the teller and tell them what you want to do swipe your card and show ID.

In the US I always forget and I've been told a few times to go fill one out when it's busy, or when slow they fill it out for me and ask me to sign it.

The bank that I go to doesn't even have tellers. It reminds me of the old Consumers Distributing stores.
