The 130mph top speed limit for cars with all-season-tires has been discussed here in length. I recall someone even asked their dealer for a top speed increase. It seems like there's no need for that ...

I bought a M240i for my wife which came with Bridgestone Turanza LS100A. This is NOT the tire for this car. I decided to replace them after 600 miles with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 AS (which are outstanding btw!). After a couple of miles, I got a warning that the tires weren't recognized and that I needed to "configure" the tires myself. I could select the type (summer, winter/all-season) of the tire as well the dimensions. The last selection was the speed rating. Unfortunately, with all-season you can only select 100mph or >100mph (which I think means 130), for the summer however it appears that the limit is 155mph.

Anyone else tried that?

That setting only changes the recommended tire pressure for the TPMS -- you're supposed to inflate to a higher PSI when driving >100 mph.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the speed limiter, which by now is locked into the DME and can't be changed.

How do you adjust the TPMS to see the recommended pressures above 100mph?

I just see automatic and manual. Manual allows me to select the tyre type but not the +100mph setting.

I have the summer tyres 255/35/R19 96Y with ZTK.

Your tyre setting is fine. Just leave it.
The optimum pressures for the load of vehicle is on the door sticker.

You are not going to be driving at sustained speeds above 100mph but if you were, the advice used to be add 0.3bar. Don’t know if technology has negated that approach now though.

Yeah I don’t plan on changing it but just curious where the setting is and why I don’t have it, any ideas?
Also I will be doing some period of 100+

You don’t have it because it’s not a thing.
You can select between winter and summer tyres.

You won’t be doing sustained 100mph plus. You’ll run out of petrol after 5 miles

this is what I was referring to, is this plus 100mph thing only on American cars? I see the summer/winter tyre option. Also I am going to the authobahn this year hence the question

I’ll say again, I don’t think it’s a thing. If your car is limited to 130mph, which UK cars are not (they are limited to 155mph), you can’t simply enter the idrive and change it.

The change in the idrive for tyres is to adjust the recommended pressures for your tyre type.
You have the Ztk pack so assuming you buy the recommended winter tyres, the recommended pressures are the same as the summer ones.

If you want to increase pressures for high speed driving, do so but don’t rely on the TPMS.

No it’s not for increasing the speed limit, just for getting the correct recommended tyre pressure. Apparently there’s a setting to adjust that.
