Beautiful... this paint almost demands PPF and ceramic coating.

Pre-delivery dealer wash left tons of swirls in my paint and grille so I can't wait for paint correction/ceramic/PPF in another week.

My body shop warned me of this, so I told my dealer explicitly to not touch the paint in any manner for any reason.

Great pictures...Looks amazing G42Bama. Seeing your results I agree with you idontsave. I called and made appoinment to get mine done. They had recently did it on a G42 Black Sapphire. When I described the color, he looked it up online. He said WOW...wait till we get done with it. Can't wait.

Cost depends on the materials, panels covered and quality of install.

Here is the quote I got, these guy do cars more expensesive than my house that arive in trailers. They modify the templates, use tradational full sheet when needed, go over all edges and apply adhesive to the edges.

PremiumShield™ Elite PPF - BMW Performance Package

Includes: Vehicle wash, Decontamination, Parts Dismantling/Cataloging and Silica Sealant Application

Limited Life Time Warranty
Self Healing Technology
High Gloss Appearance
1 x $2850.00

Nanolex™ Si3D Max- Paint Coating
Includes:
Single Stage Paint Correction
2 Indiviual Coating Layers
Infrared Curing
Finish Final Top Coat

Due to the high layer thickness the depth of color is taken to the maximum as well.

Durability: 5 Years
1 x $2245.00

I paid $1805 for the PPF - whole front end including headlights. Full hood. Mirrors. Side Skirts and up to the body line on doors and side portion of rear bumper.
And $1785 for Ceramic. Car, wheels and calipers. That included paint correction from the Dealer taking it through the car wash 3 times before I could pick it up.
Check out InsanePaintAutoDetailing on Instagram to see how bad the swirls were. They have it pinned on their stories.

I was quoted $2,300 for full front Xpel and like $600-900 for ceramic coating. Xpel on front bumper only would run me about $850. Not the cheapest but this shop does top notch work.

Still trying to figure out what I should go with. I'm finding it hard to stomach dropping over $2,500 on PPF and ceramic but I know my OCD will kill me with any scratch or bad chip and ceramic is almost a must considering all the tree sap and other debris that gets on my car in my neighborhood.

I was just quote $2300 for full front end PPF + side skirts and rear bumper behind rear wheels. Then an additional $2500 (or $2200 when paired with PPF) for 3 year ceramic.

I know this is a pretty reputable shop, but these prices seem high, even compared to those mentioned here. And this is not a very big city. For over 4k I could just repaint the whole car when it gets scratched.

EDIT: Full quote details after working with the shop and asking for a lower tier ceramic coating package:

CQuartz Professional 2 layer ceramic coating system. Interior and glass coating included. (2 year warranty) $850.00
With out doing PPF the price would be $1100
$150 off if no interior.

Global Ceramic Window Film (all windows) $650.00

Premium Shield Elite full front end PPF clear bra wrap. Hood, fenders, bumper, headlights, mirrors. $1,800.00
PPF for Side skirt, edges of hood, wear area behind rear wheels $500.00

That's one thing that's holding me back from PPF on this car, I can get my car repainted from a reputable body shop for the same price and at that point I'd choose another color too. I detail on the side and can do the ceramic and paint correction no problem but PPF is harder.

Here is the quote I got:

PremiumShield Paint Protection Film Application - Front Clip - $1,895.00
Full front end (front bumper, full hood, full fenders, and mirrors) wrapped in PremiumShield Paint Protection Film.

GTECHNIQ Crystal Serum Light Application - $1,195.00
GTECHNIQ Crystal Serum Light is a professional grade coating that yields 3 to 5 years of protection

It sucks spending money on things that don't make the car more fun... however, nothing is more frustrating than a rock chip in the front end of your new baby

Protect her.

I cursed myself every time I washed the front bumper on my last car (540) because I passed on PPF, the only thing that saved me was it was a lease.

I had an appointment to get my work done last week but snow forced a reschedule. I refuse to drive my car until its done

Can someone explain to a complete novice:

1) what ceramic coating is meant to do when applied in addition to PPF; and
2) what needs to be avoided before ceramic coating and/or PPF (e.g., car washes it sounds like?)

I don't want to have issues out the gate!

The ceramic coating over PPF provides an additional thin layer of protection to the PPF itself. It adds UV protection which can prevent PPF from yellowing. One of the main benefits to ceramic is that it will still add the hydrophobic layer making it extremely easy to keep clean. Ceramic manufactures have stated that it does not affect the PPF's ability to self heal.

Prior to ceramic the car should basically be UNTOUCHED. Some amount of paint correction is built into most shops ceramic costs and even brand new cars need some correction, but significant paint correction will cost more. I.e. Do not let the dealer wash/detail the car. If it needs to be washed, stick to lightly hand washing - no pressure washing or touch car washes

Ended up going with full front PPF for now. I'll be coming back for ceramic coating in a month or two. Makes it a little less painful

Does anyone have recommendations for ceramic coating brands?
