Delivered - My new 2022 BSM on Tacora red M240i xdrive

Just took delivery today of my new car. It's the first brand new car I have ever bought in my life. I have always bought used but since used prices are crazy I decided now was the time to treat myself. Also my birthday is next week.

A little background, I'm coming from a 2018 M3 Comp which is my third BMW and second M car.

The M240 will be a placeholder till I can get an allocation for an M2 when it comes out. Right now with the little time I have spent with my car I can honestly say that I don't know how much better BMW can make this car. It has completely exceeded my expectations and bodes well for what is in store for the M2.

I placed my order with Classic/Sewell BMW on 11/26. As I was reading the forums I found out about the dreaded RAM issue. When I checked my car when it arrived at port it was also flagged for the RAM. Luckily it only took them a week to close out the case. It sat at port for another week and then I saw that it was in transit. Since I'm in Texas it didn't take long to get to my dealer. Yay!!

The car has all the options except the the tricolor m-lights on the door pockets. I also would have optioned the adaptive cruise but that was taken down from the site when I ordered. I didn't even think to ask my CA if I could sneak it on. Probably wouldn't work anyway. I'm just glad that nothing else was taken off my build.

Also pictures don't do the car justice. Even when I took mine there seems to be lines and creases missing that just don't show up. Anyway enough rambling. Here are the pics.

After you have been in it for a bit let me know how it is comparing to the M3. I was on the fence on New M3 vs 2020 M550i vs new M240i and eventually decided to save myself the extra $20K+ and go with the M240i.

I was sick of how scratches would show so easily on my black cars, that I vowed to never get black ever again... but my god, this car is insanely gorgeous all blacked out.

Yes, wireless charging survived. What's funny is my CA made sure to let me know when I picked it up.

If you don't need the back seats you made a good choice. In a pinch passengers who are ~5'10" and under should be fine for short hops in the back. Over 6' they'll hate you.

Once I break it in I'll get a better sense of the differences with my M car. And like you was looking at the G80 but allocations are non existent in my area. My CA said there were 13 people ahead of me and only 2 allocations per month plus another 6 to 9 months to build.

Oh man that 893 wheels are so perfect for that look. Nice choice man!

I'm not sure if I want to spend an extra $2400 if I didn't bring it to the track. Ru a track guy as well?

I read somewhere that the "sprint" feature is only available for the shadow line option. Is that true?

Congratulations on yours! Did you pick it up today? I’m almost positive I saw it last night as I was picking mine up. Mine was delivered fresh off the truck yesterday and I had Sewell (full disclosure: Sewell is my employer. I work at Subaru.) skip the full PDI. I peeled the plastic off myself on-site yesterday.

I ordered mine I think on 12/8 or 12/9. I can’t remember exactly. Curious that you weren’t able to add ACC at original date of order. I was able to add it when I ordered mine.

Great choice!

Nice! First one I've seen in full M Pro Pack in black and red interior. Those red seats and red brakes look awesome together.

I can report my 9 1/2 year old grandson loved the backseat...Enjoy the light show as I cycled through the ambient lightening colors 😂.

Congrats on the car...looks amazing !!!!

Thanks and I won't track my car but I think it's worth it for the wider wheels and extra bits for cooling along with top speed limit removal. Also I do believe the brakes to be slightly bigger but could not find anything to confirm it. Didn't see anything on my build about a "sprint" feature.

Congrats! The M240 looks fantastic in BSM.

It looks like the windows are already tinted.

Not a huge fan of how BMW spec'd the tread width with Michelin on these tires. I guess pulling in the sidewalls for a narrow tread width (compared to the non-BMW spec) makes turn-in much more razor sharp?

Any thoughts on spacers to get the wheels more flush with the fenders, or even going 255 in front and 275 in back? The 8.5" and 9.5" wheels should be perfect for this.

My spec is very similar.. i have the blue calipers and Oyster leather... my question is does the black for the grill, side mirrors, and trim match the Black Sapphire Metallic exactly? or are they different black colors

This is a good question I'd like to know as well.

Any chance the OP can post close up photos of the grill in comparison to the body.

The downside (imo) to the shadow line is the black color on the side mirror. I love the graphite color better.

I am in agreement with you re: the ZPK package wheels. I don't love the look of mine so much. But they were only on for 12 miles in 20 degree temps until I switched them out for a winter set of wheels (18" 225 square w/ Sottozeros), so I don't have a sense of how they will handle until spring.

They are different but it's hardly noticeable. Up close you can see the metallic flake in BSM vs the black trim.

Yes I also agree on the tread, I think BMW didn't want it to overshadow the M2 when it comes out since that will have the beefier tires and even wider fenders? I think on this model it would be best to get it lowered a bit and then going with spacers. I don't know if 275 will work lowered on spacers but r265/f255 might work without rubbing.

Yep, not sure about the percentage but I told them make it illegal in the back and legal up front,
