Seat Occupancy Bypass help!

So I got the notorious restraint system malfunction. I ordered one of those Ebay occupant and seat belt bypass modules. Installed easily but the light is still there. I used the proper switch combination and still no luck. Are these things supposed to work right away?

My mechanic could not clear the code also. Any tips?

Thanks,

I was able to code out the airbag warning on my 2007 which got rid of the error code and I left the seat occupancy sensor in place as is.

I used Carly for BMW to code it out BTW.

You have to install those before you get the error .
If you do get them you need the BMW software to reset.
Like BMW standard tools with Inpa or Ista D.

Any bypass that will work for the car will work right away. The code can be cleared with any srs/bmw scan tool.
If it’s not clearing, the bypass isn’t working or you have other errors.

I agree with Serf. If the bypass is made correctly and you have it connected correctly, it should clear. I would like to add that I once chased that code around for quite a while because of a bad battery.

Oh, whoops sorry I haven't been on in a few days. I'll take a look later this evening and post something tomorrow with the instructions to do it. From what I recall its in the coding menu and its a little blurry from there.

It will then make a backup of the existing configuration and in the next screen you will see an option called: "Seat belt reminder passenger". As you can see in the screenshot that is attached in my vehicle that has a failure with the seat occupancy sensor the option is set to "off"

This prevents the passenger seat belt light from showing up on the dash like it used to since the occupancy sensor thinks that someone is sitting in that seat where there isn't.
