M240i dragstrip results with JB4

Just wanted to throw this out there, as these cars are very new and I hadn’t seen much out there for track times.

Decided to run my new M240i at a test & tune this weekend. Did an 11.77 at a hair under 118 mph with the JB4 set to map 2 (+4 psi). This was on 91 octane and some Torco race gas concentrate in the tank.

Needless to say, I was pretty impressed. This was around +1500 feet DA, so not great conditions either. This thing is a rocket off the line. Can’t complain about a 1.70 60’ time on street tires.

Nice! I ran a 11.35 @ 120.2 with jb4 map 2 and an AA catted DP. Was like -2000 DA too lol. On the street. Not prepped surface. Car is definitely capable.

I have no idea. The timing system at drag strips doesn’t record that, and I wasn’t using anything else to monitor the passes.

That’s impressive for sure. The best part about this car is that it doesn’t need a prepped surface or drag radials. I’m confident my car would run the same time on the street; probably faster since I’m at sea level right near the ocean.

My (now sold) ZL1 was a mid-10 second car, but was totally worthless without drag radials. While the G42 isn’t pulling 133+ trap speeds like the Z, it’s still super fun. A nice change of pace really.

do you think the JB4 is worth it if you're just using 91?

I think so. I wish I’d had more time to play around with maps and fuel at the track, but map 1 is designed for 91 octane. It’s +3 psi, versus +4 psi for map 2.

They do have the JB+, which is a cheaper alternative with an easier install. It’s basically a JB4 with only map 1, and none of the logging or live data features. At least from what I understand.

I’ve always been a flash tune guy, but bmw is making that difficult these days.

If you run a full tank of 100 octane, what map can you run from the list?

The guys at Burger told me to run race gas and map 3. I tried 1 pass with the Torco and map 3, and the car slowed down.

I’m not sure if that was heat soak related, hardware related (stock down pipe), or if the Torco mix wasn’t providing the needed octane. The car was actually a little faster at the 1/8 mile mark, then slowed down on the back half of the track.

JB4 has an option to auto log at certain throttle positions. I have mine set to 90%, that way I can always review if something is amiss.

Chances are hest soak is the culprit. I've noticed the JB4 is pretty temperate sensitive. Above 110 and below 80 IAT it seems to be unhappy.
