G42 vs F22 road noise

Hi,
I have a 2018 F22 240 xdrive and considering upgrade to G42.

How is the road noise compared to the F22? Nothing much about this issue in the reviews I have seen.

235/35-19 square setup with Michelin 4S tyres on my F22 and I think the road noise is almost as bad as on my old M2.

It is suppose to be more refined. If you watch the Savagegeese review on youtube, there is a lot of discussion about the nvh insulation used on the car!

It is also based on the G20 platform so will indeed be refined!

In my non scientific opinion quieter than the old F22, not as quiet as the 3/4 series (acceptable trade off for me considering price differences).

Quieter from road noise than my F22. I may code completely off the fake engine sounds (AWS? ASW?) like I did on the F22 using BimmerCode. You can reduce them in the car settings now, unlike the F22. Fun in the beginning, but sometimes a little annoying on the commute.

Trunk size similar. More passenger/driver room at the expense of the rear leg and headroom.
I'm okay with that trade off.

More refined feel, both interior wise and handling. I got used to and loved the visceral feel of the F22. I have not really pushed the G42 yet, but in the immortal words of Bogie in Casablanca, " Louie……"

Active Sound Design (ASD)
Note that some cars have this as an iDrive Setting:

My f22 wasn't loud by any means, but the g42 in my opinion, is way more quiet, comfortable, and refined.

I still have my F22 (for now), and it’s definitely louder than my G42. I actually always thought my F22 had a lot of road/tire noise, and mine has the Michelin PSS tires.

Thanks for the feedback.

I already tried the new 440 xdrive and was not impressed (run flat winter tyres).

Guess I have to try before I make any decision.

My fiancé complains about the noise when I'm on the phone with her. I will say the run flats are likely adding to the noise. I upgraded from a Mazda CX-5 which was very quiet and also an SUV. I am considering swapping out the run flats as I have a 30 min commute each way, each day.

This car seems quiet to me, it's hard to imagine anyone complaining about road noise. I wonder if there is a problem with noise cancellation. I have used a sound meter app (android) in the past to measure road noise. I have 791M wheels with run flat all season tires. I'll record the round trip to work to see what I get. I would be curious to see what everyone measures. Not the most scientific test given all the variables.

Way more planted and definitely more quiet. You have less chattery feedback in the wheel and the braking application is amazing. The F was an upgraded 228 but this borrows all of the pre-refined b58 parts from the G m340 so you get nearly everything you get on the 3 minus a little sound deadening (not that much given this is heavier) and maybe some more wind noise being a fat back coupe and not a long sedan. You will be amazed when you look down and are doing 90 and having light music on distracted you from the sensation of high constant speed
