He doesn't order it does he? Its merely a video advising what he'd spec if he was to buy one

Right, I didn't see him actually order one, either, but it was interesting. The UK options and packages are totally different than in the USA. I knew they were, I just didn't know how different. I really like the base front seats the UK gets.

I've asked that guy in two different videos which he prefers between the new RS3 and the new M240i...crickets.
I ask if he could stop pronouncing it "coupe A" and he replies. |

I tried to watch all of this video but it was some of the dullest content I have seen Joe make. It's just an advert for TRL and drumming up business for the dealer AFAICT.

Couldn't agree more, quite frankly a ridiculous video/idea and he even mentioned about making similar videos going forward...ehhh, no thanks. Tony must be delighted about his time being wasted

I agree, I also found it informative, thankfully after hearing their comments I was glad with the majority of the spec on my order. The only thing I wish I could change would’ve have been the black gloss interior that I opted for as I’d already had the Aluminium Tetragon Interior Trim in my 3 Series G20

But on that note, why add an additional syllable after you've already pronounced it correctly? You could just stop at "coupe". |

Because you aren't pronouncing it correctly. A coupe is a dish for serving a dessert a shallow glass or glass dish, typically with a stem, in which desserts or champagne are served, whereas a coupé is a short for a carosse coupé, literally translated as a cut carriage.
Coupé (French: [kupe]) is based on the past participle of the French verb couper ("to cut") and thus indicates a car which has been "cut" or made shorter than standard. It was first applied to horse-drawn carriages for two passengers without rear-facing seats. These berlines coupés or carrosses coupés ("clipped carriages") were eventually clipped to coupés. There are two common pronunciations in English: /kuːˈpeɪ/ (koo-PAY) – the anglicized version of the French pronunciation of coupé. /kuːp/ (KOOP) – as a spelling pronunciation when the word is written without an accent. Commonly used in the United States, this change occurred gradually before World War II and features in the Beach Boys' hit 1963 song "Little Deuce Coupe". It is only the US which has adopted the pronunciation /kuːp/ (KOOP) and then only since pre WW2. The RoW English speaking countries still use the French pronunciation. Of course your pronunciation is correct in the US ;-) Last edited by DougMcL; 02-26-2022 at 04:45 PM.. |
