Any info on G8X LCI updates?

Did a quick search and didn't see anything. Curious if I should order now or hold off a bit.

All speculation right now, isn't it, despite the apparently definitive predictions circulating on here that the M3/4 will move in lockstep with the G2x models? No confirmation yet, for instance, as to whether the iDrive 8 will be gracing (or disgracing) the dash from July onwards, or whether for that matter any LCI updates will indeed arrive in July as anticipated.

Supposedly, when I put down a deposit last Saturday for a MY2023 M3 Comp xDrive allocation, my salesman said I was first in line, and that I should expect a September delivery.

So until then, I'll be monitoring the BMW USA build site to verify what sort of LCI is expected for the MY2023 M3/M4....anything else is just hearsay IMO.

I noticed recently that the 50th anniversary badges now show on the M builds....I'll be opting out though, not a fan....

BMW build site might be the last place where we might see those updates as they are known for delays and errors.

We have several CAs in the forum and hoping to see those updates here once there is an official communication.

If you're the first, and they get an allocation right away, and they start production in late-July or early-August, you should see delivery in September. But be aware, there have been many delays in the production and delivery processes that could push that out beyond September.

This has already been discussed in a couple of other threads, but I will point out that
(a) the dash (iDrive 8) and exterior tweaks -- whatever they are -- are likely coming to the G80 this July, but not the G82/83 until the 4-series gets their LCI next year.
(b) BMW apparently does not formally refer to updates on their M models as LCI -- only the series production lines -- so you definitely won't see any official announcements in the same manner as they will for the 3-series.

Thanks. Does ID8 referrer to the long dual monitor in the new IX models?

Right now, I'm just hoping to get all the features I expected from the build sheet. With the ship still 3 or 4 days out, I am both optimistic and pessimistic that I will receive what is expected.

Thank you for the info.

My current whip is a 2020 Porsche Macan GTS, so I'm hoping the wait won't be too bad....fingers crossed!

helpful thread, was watching the last one as well for the LCI on the 23 year models. congrats on the deposit MassComp. I put mine down last month and was assured that I would be first in line too. Good to know that September is the estimated delivery date. I will have to check out the 50th anniversary badges now

If your vehicle is already built, your CA should be able to confirm if anything feature is missing. I dont think you have to wait until the vehicle lands in your dealership.

No, I suspect I'm not in dream land, but rather in the land of forum speculation, the basics of which I'm merely relaying in response to the OP--and which are helpfully summarised here by NightWriter. What's more, the timeline for (planned) updates this year probably ought to be disarticulated from the (very much unplanned) current delivery delays.

What is going to happen is they will build however many than can before July and then any outstanding orders will be 2023 LCI. They will not push an LCI for some orders, orders will just get moved to 2023. There are way more money tied up in supply organization for going into an LCI, with parts and builders that will be spinning up now to be ready to hand to BMW in July, etc. that will not be moving. Only orders that are not fulfilled as 2022s. It is way easier to say well all of these orders are now 2023s vs moving a refresh update.

Sounds logical. Crank out as many MY2022s as possible until the switch over in July....and any outstanding orders get bumped to MY2023.

I assume though anyone on the waiting list specifically for a MY2023 (like myself) takes a backseat to any outstanding MY2022 orders.

The other thing to remember is the the split between what is a real order and what is not. Only an actual allocation with a production number is a real order as far as BMW is concerned. If you happen to just have a build submitted waiting for your dealer to get an allocation those will just disappear and the buyer will have to start over with the 2023 order guide and hopefully the dealer giving that customer priority on their first 2023 allocation. The other side is the possibility that BMW will not build every 2022 allocation, in the event there are some 2022 allocations that have been on hold unbuilt (very rare but possible) I assume they would just hand the dealer a priority allocation 2023. Either way nothing will just "roll over" the specs will have to be resubmitted as a 2023 following the 2023 order guide.

If they get an allocation right away wouldn't it be for a May ish build? I just got an allocation on Monday and was told it would be built second week of May… why would an immediate allocation be for a July build? That seems way far out as far as timelines go. Not saying stuff can't get pushed as it often does but I would think that them just telling you July would mean they don't expect to get an allocation for a month or 2… that or you have individual options… Just some thoughts.

Thing is they are mostly shut down due to lack of parts, Ukraine has been supplying not just wiring looms but many parts for not just German cars, so once they find an alternative supply chain things can move forward. Some guys here are waiting for cars and have been told 18 months total wait, they ordered last year and told 2023!!! that's mad.

Maybe that's country specific? US customers who got their allocations in dec are taking delivery as we speak. I got my allocation in Jan and it went through the manufacturing process without any issues. My vehicle is currently at port waiting for a ship. But there are still some number of vehicles stuck in QC and they were manufactured last fall. So the whole process is a hit or miss.

Also M3 production in Munich resumed production this week and people are making significant progress.
