Knocking sound on hard left turn
Just swapped on my summers yesterday and the Mrs. and I took a 350 mile road trip for a long weekend. Got to the hotel and noticed a pronounced knocking sound when turning hard left.
I had an issue at the start of winter when the tires would "jump" repeatedly a tiny bit on a hard turn on cold summers in subzero temperatures. I chalked it up to the hard summer tires and didn't have the issue with my winters. Thought "dammit, what's rubbing now?" Got out my flashlight and went into the passenger side front to take a look. Somehow a damn 4-inch screw flew up into my wheel well, embedded itself, and was slowly screwing itself deeper. Got it out and did a test run and sure enough that's what my tire was rubbing against. Couldn't find where it may have broken through in the engine bay either, so seems to have been entirely cosmetic. Anyway, it's always really nice when the issue and solution immediately present themselves! |
