Piano black console trim (replacement options?)

We all know it looks great when clean but is a scratch, dust and reflection magnet. It must go.

Anyone modified it? Wrap? Replace?

Ive wrapped undesirable trim pieces previously with satin black and even carbon-look. Im not sure the best direction to head in this car.

Thanks!

Is the part easy to replace? Piano black plastic is a terrible design choice.

The console itself is easy, but the surrounding trim piece is an absolute bear. Took me 45 mins to get mine out, and I couldn't explain how I did it - there no rhyme or reason.

But that is no real piano black, the surface is more glass like. I don't really think that this can be wrapped because of all the buttons.

What do you mean it's not piano black? Does it not scratch easily?

Piano black trim is not plastic. Is a wood. Is very nice option…I would replace my carbon with piano black.

This might be a first. I have had piano black before and looks awful over time. Pain in the ass to keep looking nice.

Hahaha right. I had piano black on my initial build. Called my CA to change it out thankfully after seeing how much hassle it is. Who wants to polish their interior? I mean it looks great but really seems like too much work.

No, you're right.

That piece in question is shiny black plastic to match the shiny black buttons in the center console. The carbon fiber trim just replaces the trim surrounding the shiny black plastic button console.

Too bad BMW didn't make the center console buttons matte black to make them look less cheap, and to help hide finger prints/dust/scratches.

Personally, I hate the look of cheap shiny black plastic in the interior....

My dealer charged me $400 to swap out my original trim for the CF trim that I should have ordered with the car.

I was referring to the area inside the trim with all of the buttons. Seems like the glossy plastic there would get pretty scratched up seeing as it's a surface that is touched alot.

Ah, ok. I had it on my M4 and thought it seemed like a horrible idea, but really seemed to hold up pretty well.

Did that include the longer carbon fiber shift paddles?
