Does anyone else get annoyed when they see people referring to the Tesla Model 3 as the "M3?" Just looking for something to complain about and for people to suck into my vortex of misery. Thanks.

You will never figure it out. I'm still trying to figure out why people write p cars instead of porches when it's only 1 less character. I've asked several times. Nothing. I guess I'll never know.

Yes. And the occasional confusion with the Genesis G80. But the Tesla crowd is exponentially worse.

I should get my model 3 later this month and yes i refer to it as a tesla M3. Almost everyone who i say that too know what i mean. And when i say i own a G80 M3. They do NOT know what that is.

Tesla made the model 3 to steal customer from BMW. So of course Tesla fan boys call the model 3 an M3. Everyone on the Tesla forum calls it M3 or M3p. I have both, so when people ask me about my m3, I say which one. Lol.

Tesla does not have any car model M3.

Yeah the cars are fine. I don't love the Model 3 but wouldn't mind an S or X. I'm going to start referring to my M3 as a BMW Model 3. Or maybe BMW Model 3 Performance.

Because the model 3 is commonly called M3 around the "car community" as well. For instance if someone says my M3P. Meaning model 3 performance. It's abbreviated that quickly because people learned it that quickly.

Tesla doesn't have many models so if i said "i own a tesla 3". It doesn't sound right. I could say model 3 like everyone used to do but everything now is abbreviated. People almost all the time know what a tesla M3 if you say it like that.

If someone says BMW M3. Then all of a sudden it's, "really? What kind? What year? what variant? (especially talking about the G80).

G80 M3 sounds better than saying BMW M3 anyway. And no one knows what a G80 M3.

But almost everyone understands tesla M3.

A lot of Tesla people are not car people. I’m not surprised they don’t know what G80 means. Shoot, a lot of casual BMW fans have no idea.

It's because Porsche is hard to spell and people don't want to risk looking silly by misspelling it porches or something like that.

Ford owns Model E and prevented Tesla from using the trademark. So Tesla used Model 3 instead.
