..::PSI::.. - Ruby Stone G80 Roadtrip! (Highlights + Build Breakdown)
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com PSI G80 Ruby Stone Build Sheet! Now with just over 14,000 miles on the odometer our G80 just got back from its longest road trip yet. Our drive started on Friday with a quick stop at the BMW CCA foundation in Greer, South Carolina. After a quick preview of their next collection reveal, we took off down the road to the BMW Performance Driving Center. Due to a warm welcome from the staff we were able to get the G80 trackside with some of the official cars on hand and took a look around their state of the art facility! Closing out the day we had to swing by the Zentrum museum for some history and a very nice Photo OP. Nice and early Saturday morning we met everyone at the annual BMW CCA MX1 Event where the G80 was stationed at the Moton Suspension USA and Akrapovic Booths! This was our final stop in South Carolina before we hit the road for our 530 mile trip back. A quick detour lead us perfectly going through Savannah at sunset so of course, more photos were taken! Overall, the G80 M3 made for an extremely comfortable road trip vehicle. The trunk had plenty of room for everything I needed, the interior was spacious and allowed for both myself and a passenger to relax with all the creature comforts that BMW is known for. The seats were COMFORTABLE... yes... I said comfortable. Once we got the seats exactly how we wanted them, the drive was a breeze. The Moton one-ways allowed for a fun stiff ride through the backroads and a perfect smooth ride while cruising on the highway. The Thule on top made no whistling noise and we had ZERO problems with the front grills. After all 530+ miles of backroads and highway driving... we didn't have a single mark on our heat exchanger. This trip truly put our PSI G80 M3 to the test... and it passed. Prior to this road trip we were lucky enough to have Larry Chen do a full breakdown on our car! Car looks great. We have ( wife) a 911 coming in this color, her favorite. One humble suggestion, turn down the HDR or photo enhancement as it starts to look cartoonish, the car and color is awesome in real life no need for photo tricks, again, IMO.

Much much better than the previous IOMG with the inexplicable silver wrap on the bottom. Not sure how to feel about that spoiler though.

That exposed radiator is not only ugly but a big no no; gravel and rocks will destroy that thing.
Still don't get this terrible design. Too much unnecessary exposure. And is not cute either, so what for? Cute nail polish color though... |

CSF has a mesh protector on the top 50% and will release a second mesh protector for the bottom of the heat exchanger to address concerns for 6MT cars. Auto cars have a trans cooler on the bottom from BMW. These pics were after driving the car on I-95 to and from SC and the car is daily driven in Orlando, FL. So far this has not been an issue on the car, which we will continue to drive and provide feedback. The wrap color matched my most recent nail polish color, thats why we picked it. |

Absolutely stunning!
Great job on the photos and the build. Couldn't have showcased this car any better. The roof box adds such a unique and cool look to almost any car, but this really makes the car that much better. Thank you for sharing your build and experience! |

Great build alot of nice parts. But I'm sorry the G8x only looks good next to other g8x or parked by itself. As soon as its parked next to an older M it just doesn't do it for me. I like the color, wheels, all other mods besides the ski box but that can be removed easy.
