Thinking of getting Kia EV6 GT
I currently have Caynne diesel. Test drove Mach E and Tesla Model Y, didn't like them. Yesterday got a chance to drive EV6 and really liked it. The size, acceleration, tech, matte paint option, fabric seats, checks pretty much all boxes for me. Just not sure if I'll be able to get my hands on one with wait times, markups, and dealers will probably low ball me on my tradein.....One of the local dealers has $20k markup on GT line lol. Will call a few others tomorrow.....
Of course Genesis electric would be even better, but they say have to wait till early 2023 for cars to arrive on dealers lots |

Does the current ride really need replacing? It is an ABYSMAL time to buy a new car. If it's running well, ride it out 2 or 3 years until Kia stops 30K ADM's ffs.

Running like new but has lots of miles and warranty expires in 5k miles. According to lease calc, with my tradein I'll be paying about $200 bucks per month. So I was thinking why not lease it for 3-4 years....
I also have solar panels, should be able to charge it for free too. Now I am paying $150 per tank |

Ps. I am not planning to pay markups, if that's the case then obviously not going to happen. I read in forum that one dealer in my state doesn't have adm, wanna call them tomorrow

I really like the EV6 too but have yet to drive one. Once the lease on my K5 is closer to expiring I will strongly consider trading it in for one. Would be nice to have an electric car in the house and the EV6 looks like a real winner.

The new genesis shooting brake EV looks like it could be great. But probably a year or two out.
On a side note $1000/month to lease a Kia is absolutely nuts. It’s also a terrible deal. A good lease deal is anything less than 1% of the MSRP of the car per month with $0 paid of pocket. Check out the Leasehackr forum, lots of great info. Last edited by dgoldenz; 04-17-2022 at 12:34 PM.. |

I see where his head is going. Right now he has 26K tied up in a car he is driving anyways. For an extra $200 a month he can save some $400 a month (or so) on gas. This all makes sense until you get to the end of the 3 years and realise you've lost the 26K.
If it is $400 a month (I am guessing), that's 180 month net saving so $6500. Still cheaper to hold onto the Cayenne. COmes down to total cost I guess. Cayenne is what say $400 x 36 on gas, $14,400. Add what, $7K depreciation? I dunno. So call it $22K in 3 yrs. Kia is what 26K plus the lease so $34K in 3 years? Pulling numbers out of my arse but see where I am going. |

I say go for it, the EV6 and Ioniq5 are getting rave reviews and look great. Just be ready for the swap into the EV lifestyle which will have downsides during the cold season.

It's always cheaper to hold a car )) I am currently spending $300 on gas max. I also never leased before so I'll take a look at other deals. I wasn't planning to save money, just change the car to something EV. I'll take a look at E-tron as well

Even if the math did make sense, don't throw $26k at a lease upfront! That's crazy.

To each their own...
I've seen a couple of EV6s and they look like the textbook definition of the word "appliance." The Ioniq5 and Mach E are far more attractive!

This is a $1k a month lease. It's generally not a good idea to put money down on a lease... the fact that you're thinking of putting $26k (regardless of in what form it is... cash, trade-in, etc) is just nuts.
Hard for me to comment on if $1k a month lease on an EV6 GT is a good deal or not, but generally speaking getting a car at MSRP and base money factor in this market is considered a "good" deal.

For example - what you pay on your lease is dependent upon multiple factors - including vehicle price less incentives, residual value, money factor, etc. Some people qualify for incentives such as loyalty while others don't. If someone doesn't qualify for loyalty and that pushes them outside the 1% threshold despite getting equivalent dealer discounts and base money factor compared to others who are below the 1% threshold... does that mean that individual got a bad deal? In reality what's considered a "good" deal is much more nuanced, and needs to be compared to how much others are paying for the same car (and preferably in the same region). There are some cars where if your payment is 1.5% of MSRP it would be considered a good deal... at the same time there may be some cars where paying 1% of MSRP is considered a mediocre deal because everyone else is paying 0.75% of MSRP.
