It's just a 3 series at the end of the day, you won't get TV options until you get into the 7 series range.

They can watch the Navigation. They'll learn how to read maps as an added benefit. Or let them take their iPads, they can charge them in the backseat!

You can code the iDrive to play videos in the main screen. It's hard to see from the back seats however. Echoing what is already said, the M3/4 is less luxury than MB. It was never meant to have a TV in it. I leans towards driving.

Yes, there's a semi-secret "1XTV" option that you can add to your G8X. If your CA seems puzzled or says there's no such thing, that's all part of the charade that they are instructed to follow to help discourage its use, but if you are adamant enough, eventually they will allow it. Here it is in the back of my car (which also includes other secret options like the secondary sunroof and extended wheelbase):
