Is Kilter reliable / accurate?

If you filter for M240s, production orders are heavily concentrated in the NE US, with a few other metro areas also showing some small volume.

But there are literally no cars in the upper mid-west / great plains (west of Great Lakes / East of Pacific NW)

https://kilter.com/search?brand=BMW&...i+xDrive+Coupe

Assuming it is accurate, is this a function of market demand or allocation availability?

I don't know if Kilter is real-time or accounts for all US orders, but in the past couple months it has gone from ~120 M240s in process and consistently trended down. Now it is showing *a total of 29* M240s somewhere in the process of between being built and delivered.

Similarly, 230s were typically showing 200+- and now down to 55 cars.

It seems like they are putting out just a handful a day and not adding anything more to the workload

I'd say it reflects market demand.

Based on my travels at least in all the states west of the Mississippi River the areas in which there are no production orders showing are not hotbeds of BMW ownership or for that matter M-B, Audi, or Porsche ownership either.

Do you think an average of less than 2 buyers for m240s in each state (2 in all of NYS, 3 in FL and < 10 in CA) represents demand?

to a degree, but those low numbers also reflect available supply, which we pretty know that demand is outstripping supply across most all makes and models.
I would say demand is much higher in those states, but is constrained by supply.
