Would I regret getting only 230i
I put down a deposit for a 230i coming in a week. However my dealer just told me there’s a m240i also coming in a couple of weeks. The problem is the m240i cost roughly 14k more as it is fully optioned. Do you think it’s worth it for me to get m240i. I would just use this as my daily driver, not planning to track it or anything. I don’t really think the extra hp/torque is needed in my use case. However, I'm in Washington which rains all the time, should Xdrive be required? Do you think I should get the m240i or stick with 230i?

It sounds like the 230 is perfect for you and with what you said it seems like you think that as well.
RWD is perfectly fine in the rain. Also it’s not like it’s a 500hp RWD drive car where you will be fighting for traction. In your case the 14k extra for a 240 doesn’t seem worth it. Lots of reviews say the 230 is a great car. |

For me it's about the options and packages
If the 230 is specced out enough for you then go with that for the saving. It's still a very quick care compared with what you'll come across on the road. If the 230 is a pretty basic spec then it might be worth going 240 for the options alone But as a car based on what you've said. No I don't think you need the 240. |

Can speak only for myself, but here are my two cents.
When I was ordering the car back in Jan, I had a lot of back and forth if I should order 240 over 230. Ended up with 230, because I feel that the power it has is more than enough for a city (I'm in NY) and highway touring. I had a car for 2 weeks at this point, and I'm so so happy with how it drives. Feels very light and nimble, and I feel it also because it's RWD and significantly lighter than 240. I'm still young and def still have sparks in my heart to drive fast, but hey, usually fast driving can be done at special events and facilities (especially since you in Washington and I'm in NY and you can't do much in the city), and for this type of things, you can either have a project car or just rent something for a weekend. Maybe I'm just trying to prove to myself that I've done the right thing, but the main point - I'm not regretting ordering 230i (with M-packages tho, including suspension and steering), it's an incredible car and I'm very happy with it! |

The extra HP is not “needed” in “anyone’s” case. That extra HP is not something that falls under a “need” category. You are either a car enthusiast who appreciates performance cars and what they offer or you are not.
The nice thing about the M240i is that in “comfort mode” it acts like a nice performing coupe. It’s when you put it in "sport mode" that it really comes alive. So, with the M240i, you can have your cake and eat it to. Now, the 230i will not be a slow car by any account. The BMW 4-cylinder turbo is plenty powerful in its own right and I’m sure it will be a fun car. I owned a 2019 BMW 330i xdive with BMW’s turbo 4 and it was a fun car with plenty of power. A week ago I took delivery of a 2022 M240i and it is on a different level, “when you want it to be”. There is no getting around it, the M240i is one amazing “performance” car. No one can decide for you. I know you will be very happy with the 230i as I was very happy with my 330i. However, if you are a “car enthusiast at heart” and you pick the 230i, you too will remain happy – as long as you never drive the M240i. Good luck with your choice. Bob |

Oh no, the 230i is specced with everything except the dynamic handling package and the speaker. But the m240i, I believe they literally click every single options, not too sure if the they ordered the extra m performance parts too.

The engine in the 240i is what makes it special. It is a dying breed. There are soooo many cars out today with turbo 4's. My last two cars and current car has one. That's what made me opt for the 240i, that V6.

Why don't you order a 240 that is lightly optioned to keep the price tag down? Buyers remorse on a car is the worst, I know from experience around 10 years ago when I settled and bought a 328xi when I was shopping for a 335. Similar scenario here with 230 and 240

I had a similar post when I was shopping. The looks on 230 and 240 are so similar which makes it feel like the price difference is not worth it. BUT I went with 240. Now I'm happy everyday that I didn't go with 230 when I hear the engine start up. Plus when you resell this car the b58 holds more value

What Shaddy said - if you can afford it, that M240 is probably going to give you more smiles per mile than the 230 will, not that the 230 is *not* a great car in its own right.

The 230 would no doubt be similar re: engine to my former 428 coupe and 430 gran coupe .. and on the basis of comparison to my current 240, any possibility to afford the 240 is worth it

230i M-Sport is basically a modern USDM E36 M3. It’s more than enough for a fun daily, especially for the money.
The thing is the M240i is basically M2 Comp performance, which makes it a spectacular bargain in its own right. |

I ordered 230i (still watting production). I pretty sure it enough for me, im not a speed guy 😅. My last car was C300,it enough for daily driving, i assume 230i would be better speed (maybe fuel too)
The BIG BIG BiG problem ive been thinking is "i live in Chicago, Will it have any issue in winter?" because my C300 AWD 4 season-tires doesnt have any issue even i parked on the street in winter everyday. Just curious will 230 RWD runflat 4 seasons can handle that or not 🤣. Anyone has experience about this ? (i dont want option change tires 2 times every years) I cant afford for 240 anyway 8k for finance is very difference and i feel i dont wannna drive it that fasst |

It’s quite hard to find a dealer that already ordered one where it’s lightly optioned. Best I find which is in Cali for 9k difference. I have to call them and see if they have any mark up or not. I don’t how long it would take if I were to order one now, but my guess, it would come during Christmas which is a bit too long for me.
