Photos of Thundernight Paint on Delivery and After Correction and Coating
Hello Everyone,
I have really benefitted from all of the content here while waiting 4 months for my M240i. I wanted to give back and share what it was like to get a Thundernight Metallic car, correct the paint myself, and then ceramic coat it myself. The entire process from delivery took about 14 hours. In the first photo I will show how bad the paint looked on arrival. It seems it went through a sand storm or something and then was detailed as the entire car was scratched and every crevice had sand in it. I took it home and washed it, debadged it, full clay bar + lubricant, full cutting polish, IPA rinse to remove any remaining waxes/sealants, and then ceramic coated it with 2 layers. The remaining photos are 24 hours after coating taken today. |

The first three photos are direct sunlight, you can tell from the shadow. Depending on the angle the photo is taken the car can look vastly different. It's a very dynamic color that's extremely hard to capture well.

Great pics. Once again, I'm forced to reconsider switching my build from PB to TN.

Thank you! I can still see some very light swirls in some areas, I would make sure to really take your time polishing it and definitely ceramic coat it as this paint is extremely sensitive.

Nice job, looks great !
If mine arrives like yours, I refuse the delivery and ask for the corrections (but I don't think the dealer would dare deliver it to me like that) Enjoy ! |

Great job.Paint looks perfect after your detailing.Do you really think it was a sand storm.I guess that could happen with the Mexican plant being in the middle of a desert.

But seriously gorgeous car… your pictures alone are causing me to reconsider color too! I was set on the Tacora red interior and after seeing pictures of TN and the red interior with red calipers I was quite pleasantly surprised. TBD since my car won't be built until MY23 production starts😔 |
