Hi, I'm currently driving a 2017 F80 M3 (Competition LCI). I'm about to put a deposit down on a G80 M3 & was just wondering if anyone could give me a comparison of the F80 sports seats vs the 'standard' seats in the G80. I really like the sports seats in the F80 & if the standard seats are similar in the G80 I probably won't option the CF buckets. Thanks.

The buckets are definitely more aggressive then even the f80 comp seats. In terms of aggressiveness, I'd say it's g80 standard, then f80 standard, f80 comp, then g80 bucket.

I think that bmw dialed down the standard seats to widen the berth with the buckets. They're incredibly comfortable, but could have been slightly better bolstered (without going full track mode like the buckets.)

Tl;Dr - sit in the buckets. They're more aggressive than your seats. The standards are less bolstered. Only you can figure out which is correct

F80 M3 Comp seats - a firm mess that squeezed your thighs together due to the firm hip bolsters.

G80 M3 Standard seats = firm and sporty seat that is comfortable and very adjustable. Doesn't hug you like the F80 Comp seats.


I gave up my F80 for the seat discomfort and overall ride discomfort in daily driving alone. The G80 is like a dream compared to the F80 in comfort.

Then again you're not getting luxurious 5 series comfort here.
