Dash Cam Install

Does anyone know what fuses are constant and accessory for the fuse box under the glovebox? I have the diagram but don't know which fuses to tap into for a dashcam install. Thanks for the help.

There is a great guide here: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=28446425

but it references slot 29 for constant and 70 for accessory. Problem is that I don't have a fuse in slot 29. I suppose it is empty for a reason. BMW's are quirky and hard to tell what is constant when some of the functions will be supplied power for several minutes even after the car is shut off. I called a BMW dealership for some help and they said they could finish off the install for $150. I have absolutely everything wired except for the fuse taps. So frustrating.

I went with a Viofo A129 Dual Pro. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I live in Calgary. Trying to get some answers on the fuses as this is my last step.

Some time with a multimeter will give you alot of answers. My M240 just went to 150 today, so can't give you much more than this diagram & Fuse Guide I've come across.

F46 appears to be a 12v socket, this is where I would try with an add a circuit.

This is an install guide for BMW's dashcam install. Interesting to see where they are putting the wires.

I used the G80 guide and tapped into Fuses 29 for Battery and 70 for accessory modes. For whatever reason dashcam stays in the continuous mode.

I think some accessories stay on for 6-10 minutes or so. I have my radar detector plugged into my cigarette lighter socket and it stays on for 6 minutes after I leave the car.

I plan on installing a blackvue with PowerMagicPro to a constant. It will continue to record until the battery drops below a certain voltage, at which point it will stop drawing power.

Yup. It takes a while for accessory to shut down. I'm gonna time it at some point. It works though

Has anyone figured this out?

I am buying a hardwire kit and I have the option for ATO vs. mini fuse taps. I know BMW uses both but if I know which is required for a dashcam hardwire that would save me from buying an extra tap..

Yes. Same place. Putting the plastic cover back after connecting everything took me a while tho. After the 3rd time, I was the expert at it.

Btw, when at home, I do turn it off (unplug power source from dashcam) as it showed me a battery drain message once. Otherwise, it's working really well.

Unfortunately, the fusebox has stayed in the same location, so in a RHD car, the access panel is under the steering wheel and held in place by 2 x 8mm bolts.

Having run a Blackvue with power magic pro, I’d advise against it.
It drains the battery too much. I’ve had to replace batteries early because of it. The better solution is to get a battery pack and charge that when the car is running. It’s more expensive but works well and will pay for itself in replacement car batteries. Note, Blackvue have discontinued the power magic pro.

No. I wired it as above with the Blackvue battery pack. No problems what so ever and it records for a couple of days.
