CarPlay (iOS16)
Does anyone think BMW might use the newly announced CarPlay features from todays WWDC iOS16 announcement? I feel like this would pair well with iDrive8’s massive instrument panel coming on the MY2023.

Doubt it. BMW is turning into a tech company themselves. If anything, they'll be late to the integration. Also I wonder is apple would remove this feature completely when they bring their own cars to market. Either that or have even more features that'll make you want to come over to them.

It's possible as they were the first to use the Apple Digital Key that was shown in 2020. Also the Apple Maps has integration already with the directions on the BMW instrument cluster and Heads up display.
But as mentioned above it's early days for when it's due. |

Looking at the Keynote it will be cars with multi-screens like ID8 that it would be suited to well but its asking a lot to car companies to give up that much control of the car to a software company

It looks interesting and I might prefer it to many carmakers' systems. It's a lot to run on your phone wirelessly. What happens when you don't have your phone, don't have a phone, or have an Android phone.
