BMW E90 Fault codes help!!

Hi Guys...long time reader first time poster.

My car tripped the following codes today on my drive home. I reset them using a scan tool and they all came back. wondering where I start in terms of replacing parts.

5E43 - Steering angle sensor internal
5DF4 - wiring supply voltage <9 Volt
5D97 - Sensor Cluster supply voltage out of range
5DF7 - Wiring supply voltage > 18 Volt

appreciate you guys! Any input is helpful.

Your Voltage Regulator in the rear of the Alternator needs replacing. "Over-Voltage" is anything > 16.0 V, and yours spiked to > 18V while the engine was running and Alternator Charging. Also, voltage dropped to < 9V at some point according to the "5DF4" code.

You can use Hidden Menu 9.00 to display System Voltage on your Instrument Cluster as you drive:

Driving with Over-Voltage in 18V+ range can damage your Battery or even Control Modules. Have you had a "Light Show" on your Instrument Cluster, wipers self-activating, or other unusual electrical issues?
