Question Winter wheels and tires

Looking to see if anyone has ordered any dedicated Winter setup.

Wheels and tires as a combo. I believe I saw someone who posted that the M340I Xdrive with high performance pack would have the same ET and work as far as ordering goes.

I'm not ready to spend $2-3k on a maybe, so I am wondering has anyone done any more research and found what ET works with our cars. Mine is specifically equipped with ZTK so I want to make sure that what I get would fit.

Currently looking at a set up from Tirerack that (using the M340I x drive with high performanace tires option) is a 19X8 with 2 offset options of either 28 or 32. Which would work best, and not potentially cause issues.

Thanks in advance. Just want to make sure I am ready since the PS4S aren't the best here in north east ohio

wheel size and offsets

I'm in a similar situation, as Wisconsin is not a place for summer tires from December through March (JK - more like Dec-May!). Given the newness, here's what wheel-size.com has listed for the G42:

fronts: 8 x 19 et 27 (225/45/19)
rears: 8.5 x 19 et 40 (255/35/19)

Running a 225/45 square set-up on 8 x 19 et 28 seems the easiest. Rears would be inboard a bit, but spacers would make it look better.

I would like to run at least "-1" on sizing. Given that, a 225/45 tire on a 8 x 18 et 28 wheel would work - but I have no idea if it clears the calipers (my guess is it will).

I would prefer "-2" in sizing - and a 215/55 on a 7 x 17 et 26 wheel seems ideal, but the calipers would have less clearance than the 18's. For me, 225 is a tad wide for winter (particularly as we do get snow accumulations), and having the higher side wall really helps with our massive potholes.

I'm confident TireRack will have the fitments uploaded soon - maybe I will actually have my car by then

This is what I'm leaning towards doing for my winter setup. It would be nice if Tire Rack would get their database updated to show what wheels will fit.

Thanks for the input. I am running the ZTK setup, and just want to make sure they clear the larger rotors and calipers.

893 spec for the wheels are

19X8.5 ET 25 F
19X9.5 ET 35 R

So just wondering if ill run into issues with either the ET of 28 or 32 for the wheels i've seen used on the M340i X-Drive configurator with the HP package via Tirerack

looks like there is another owner here who found a solution for the ZTK option...

unfortunately that link doesn't answer the ET question, and it goes down to 18" wheels which i'm not sure I want to do.

Sorry I did not include offsets in my post.
Wheels go on and off quickly at the garage and happened when I was distracted by other things. Anyway M340 configurations seems to work and 18" winter wheels drive very well.

Thanks for this! Too much info going around with different sizes and such, gets confusing.

Thanks for this! When you say “standard M sport brakes” does this mean with ZTK package? I’ve been running around trying to find an 18” wheel setup and can’t seem to find an answer for offset. Parts at my dealer advised I could run 8x18 at the front and 8.5x18 at the rear on 225/45/18 and 255/40/18, respectively. I’d be going with square setup (using front configuration) but no idea what offset I need to clear brakes (I have ZTK)

No, the ZTK package is not the Standard M Sport Brakes

Just to confirm, are you running a square set-up?

Might of off topic slightly, but has anyone tried mounting up a VW / Audi set? Not a lot of options for BMW locally..

I'd need to get spacers probably (Planning on getting 12/15 F/R anyways), and also hub centric rings.

Specs are:

18" 5X112 et35

245/40R18 tires

My logic is - the 19" OEM's fit with a 25 offset.. So a 35 offset rim with a 12mm spacer should equal 23 offset?

I’m getting a set of wheels this week I plan to get fitted to test in the next week or so. 18” 5x112 et 25 CB 66.6. Wheels are 245/40R18 like you, square setup. Will keep you posted!

Just confirming my wheels didn’t fit with the calipers, so I will be going with a 19” wheel setup. Lots of conflicting information everywhere about what will fit, BMW parts department even said they expect it to fit…

Now that the car has finally arrived, I can enjoy at least a few more weeks until snow becomes more probable in these parts (Milwaukee). I followed the path of Hpirx and Ruebarb and used the M340i via Tire Rack. Did a test fit this morning and everything fit with plenty of room. Set-up as follows:

ASA "GT16" (gunmetal finish), 18x8, ET28 with Vredestein 225/45/18, total weight with tires 46 lbs [square set-up]

FYI I do not have the ZTK option.

Also - I weighed the OEM 19's with tires. I have style 797 with Pirelli P-Zero's. Fronts @ 46 lbs, rears @ 50.6 lbs.

Per manual, torque setting for lug bolts @ 101 lbs/140 Nm

I am surprised no one has posted a good 18" wheel and tire option compatible with the ZTK package
