Unhappy Bizarre Headlight Wiring - 2011 328i

Car is 2011 328i with aftermarket valeo halogens assemblies. Wife bought this car yesterday and I noticed a dash error. Inspected the wiring harness connector , it has been sliced on the drivers side with a wire coming of the factory harness to god knows where on the headlight assembly.

My best guess is what the previous owner did:

Pre-lci halogen assemblies swapped in and somehow needed to splice a wire to get them work ?

- My doubts here are from remembering pre-lci and lci halogens are plug and play swaps.

Car should have xenons but he decided to swap in halogens and somehow got them functional by splicing ?

- My doubts here are i decoded the vin and didn’t see xenon listed.
