False Overheating, no power over 2000 rpm HELP

I drive a BMW 318 D e91 2008 N47.

I got an orange overheating symbol yesterday that popped up and went away after restarting the car, but the radiator fan stayed on 24/7 while the car was on.

Today I drove it for around 20 min. I got a red overheating symbol and the car immediately lost power. I thought I stalled but the car just didn't have any power over 2000rpm.

I checked coolant etc everything was perfectly fine, coolant level ok, the stream in the coolant was circulating normally. Engine and all the pipes were warm not hot at all. I checked the coolant temp on the dashboard and it was reading over 137 Celsius. Which is way over boiling. But the coolant wasn't even hot or steaming.

Now I can't drive the car over 2000 rpm. The second I pass 2000 rpm the car loses power.

Any idea what the problem could be. I had my water pump replaced about 2 months ago. Everything is working how it should be. Makes no sense. I don't even get an engine light. Just a red and orange overheating symbols. But it makes no sense since the engine and coolant is not hot at all.

Sounds like your coolant temp sensor needs replacing. Should be a cheap solution... If it is that, that is.

First thing as above is to replace the coolant temp sensor.
