Tell me about Coffee !
So I really like Instant.. don't shoot me.. milk and sugar. Nescafe' I'm originally British, there you go we drink our beer warm LOL and put beans on toast !
So yes I do like the machines you get which you can brew like with the coffee powder and the paper thing and drip drip drip. Now you have these Pod things and I can't find a decent Pod I like. I thought it might be just the run of the mill cheapo ones we have at work, so I went out and picked up something from the shops and that tasted horrible. I do like the taste of filter coffee, but like the convenience of a POD system. Is it just that the Pod's are crap, the pod system is crap and that filter coffee is the best. Any thoughts and ideas? I wanna try and save money on Starbucks, 2nd cup and macdonalds coffee ... Tim Hortons sucks %^&%& so don't even mention them thanks |

For me, Folgers Classic in a Mr. Coffee drip is great. I load it the night before and simply punch the button in the morning. Couldn't live without it!

I hate the pod things. The best coffee is the old fashioned Pyrex glass percolators but I don’t have patience to wait. I too have a drip pot and set it up the night before. My go to is Dunkin Dark Roast.

Most of my work career I drank Starbucks black coffee, then my wife wanted to jazz my work office up so she got me a Kuerig for work and I have been fine with the same Starbucks Pike place black K-cups.
I can’t do Dunkin Donuts, to me it’s too weak and bland (but most say Starbucks taste burnt) never had Tim Hortons. Otherwise it’s a Bustelo espresso K-cup |

Pod systems vary, I think Nespresso is the best and I've always liked that, for the taste and convenience. I don't get ppl who buy those espresso machines taking 10 mins to make 1 shot that is finished in 1 gulp, they will argue that it has superior taste but I personally don't think so.

ive surrendered to K-cups because they're so easy, but use the refillable version: https://www.amazon.com/Reusable-keur...295941821&th=1
you can load it up with whatever roast you'd like. i drank ~30 ounces / day of the dunkin dark roast for years, but i like some variation so i always have something new floating around. i came across this amazon branded coffee https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and have replaced the dunkin dark roast as my usual go-to. always black with a half teaspoon of organic cane sugar in a 10-oz cup. i love coffee but i aint snooty about it.

I have a Breville machine which has a dual head, I can do pods and ground coffee.
Cost me about $1000 (AUD) about five years ago. My Son and I prefer our coffee to be strong and tasty (ground beans) and my wife had a quarter strength flat white FFS, my like warm milk than coffee. So it’s the best of both worlds for me. |

For pods, I like Illy -- they are kind of pricey.
I use an Aeropress with fresh ground coffee each morning -- simple and relatively cheap (depending on the beans you use). https://aeropress.com |

If you must have an automatic coffee maker, this is the one: Technivorm Moccamaster
Fresh beans are the key. You can use an inexpensive hand grinder, or buy a grinder, but grinding the beans right before you brew makes a huge difference. If you take the journey to learn how to make good coffee, you get the reward of being able to drink it black without all the crap in it. It won't be bitter, but will have notes of fruit and nut. Good coffee is ... great. haha.. I do pour over. It takes a week or so to get your grind size right, and the ratio of beans to water right, but the interwebs are your friend and will help you with that. Light roast beans! Grind before brewing 198-205deg (F) water unbleached paper filters... and rinse the filter with hot water before you put the coffee in. Kettle: https://fellowproducts.com/products/...18635548721267 Grinder: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YNDX5HW...ogi&th=1&psc=1 Brew Method: https://www.chemexcoffeemaker.com/si...ffeemaker.html Filters: https://www.chemexcoffeemaker.com/ch...s-natural.html Scale: Any $15-$25 scale on amazon or at Target will do. Essentially, you're going to measure out 26g of beans, grind them, put them in the chemex, zero out the scale and pour 420g of water over the beans. voila... a little zen and caffeine all in one. |

I buy whole fresh roasted beans, and grind my own up every morning and use a $25 Bodum french Press.
Consistent and depending on what beans you get, you can have any flavour you want.

If you are up for trying something different, I'd suggest an Aeropress. It makes really good coffee, it takes minimal time and effort, and the cleanup is super easy.
https://www.amazon.com/AeroPress-Cof...94&sr=8-5&th=1 I'd also suggest getting this cap for it. It makes the brewing process a bit easier. https://www.amazon.com/Fellow-Pressu...%2C194&sr=8-12 If you are interested, there are tons of videos on YouTube that show how to use it. |

Since I can no longer drink coffee/tea with sugar, my preference is for lighter roasts that are drinkable with only a splash of milk. We were sampling the whole line of Black Rifle coffee K-cups back around the new year with the old pot, and I'd really like to try a few of them again with the new pot to see how much it changes them.....
