How many times has your production # been pushed so far
This will surely seem like beating a dead horse, but at this point what else is there really to do.
If you're like me (i'm sure a large majority of us are ) you're checking your bmw garage, weekly, daily, and more than likely on an hourly basis. Just like this very forum. I like so many ordered Thundernight Metallic. I spec'd it with the ZTK, ZPP, ZPK, Hk sound, M interior lighting, and Tacora red leather, remote start, and drive recorder. I opted to stay with the Cerium bits over the ZHO just due to my own personal preference, and to me the Cerium makes the whole front end seem wider. I traded in a G01 in Glacier silver over Oyster vernasca for this G42 build with a BMW dealer I've worked with for the last few vehicles an F82 being the vehicle prior to the G01. Placed the order on 03/29, and agreed with signed purchase agreement on 03/31. l was able to lock in the special finance rate with BMW and the owner loyalty rebate. Pricing was fair, not great but fair and was told it would be 8-12 weeks or so, as they had already gotten some G42's in and had 2 more allocations that were filled earlier in March. Without an allocation I traded in my G01 (have another vehicle to drive if need be) which has since been sold (2 days later) and received an allocation with production number in June, early in the month. Not too long of a wait, but then the first set back came as my status bounced from 111 to 047. A little annoyed I reached out to the sales manager of the dealership (the only person I have ever dealt with at the dealership) and he says he doesn't know what or why this is happening but would get back to me. No real answer and after a couple days it goes back to 111, and I'm ok with it as he didn't have a solid answer why it said that. But assures me my production week of 26 is for sure a thing. Vehicle goes into 112!!! I'm so excited I could cry, and keep in mind we're now 10+ weeks into this waiting game that I was assured would be 8-12 weeks from start to finish and I don't even have a VIN yet. But thinking positively, I think hey why not do the PDC for delivery since we're in ohio and I wouldn't mind driving half way back and spending the night somewhere with the wife and make a little trip out of it. Possible delivery maybe early July maybe late July. Then it goes back to 111 yet again, now WTF is going on. Again same thing is relayed over to me that they don't know why and same BS from the Genius, if that's what you'd like to call them. Then i'm informed that my car is getting pushed to week 30. And now will no longer be a 2022, and that Thundernight now all of a sudden cannot be ordered with MAG6 Tacora and now i'm fuming, but i've already traded in my vehicle, and won't walk away from $3k+ in sales tax savings. So after a lot of thinking (and my wife honestly just trying to show me the good out of this shitty situation) I try to force myself to get over the fact that I cannot get a 22 from this dealer anymore, and that maybe the iDrive8 is really cool, or that the stuck on widescreen is super modern, or that you don't need an actual level that your hand needs to hold to enjoy driving a vehicle, and not being able to get my own weird red and purple color combo becuase I have a scheduled production week of week 30. Well, week 28 comes and i'm still in status 112 but I see that Tacora MAG6 is indeed again available Thanks LivingInSalt and now really makes my blood boil. The sales manager never let me know that 3 days literally 3 days after he told me to switch my order as it was no longer a color combo allowed, they lifted it, and now could order it the way I originally ordered it. He gets is changed, and the very next day my vehicle goes from 112 to 111 again. Finally i've had enough, and I email BMW NA and get a call this morning from The "executive offices" stating they received my email. Nothing more, and nothing less. A slight apology regarding the delay, but basically that there is no reason that they're aware of as to why these delays keep happening, and that i've been pushed to week 40 now. The PDC is out of question, as the ZTK and snow probably won't mix too well, and I don't want to chance wrecking the vehicle on the way home. So that's definitely a bummer, just as this whole experience is turning out to be. It's just a shame that BMW NA is allowing all of this fckery to keep going on, and just doesn't seem to give a flying fck. Any advice from some of the BMW employees on here as to what can/should be done from here on out would be greatly appreciated. |

If you don't have an allocation, you don't have an order.
You're counting from the day you started with the dealer, but you didn't really order the car until early June (when they received an allocation), about six weeks later. It's typical to wait several months from ordering to receiving the car. Advice to anyone looking to get this or any other in-demand car: Shop around until you find a dealer with an allocation. Dealers will try to talk you into waiting so they have a backlog; don't fall for it, go to a higher-volume dealer. |
