[Beware-of-the-Phoggy]

Last weekend I shared some photos from my "scenic" route home from PCD along the Blue Ridge Parkway. This weekend I had some free time on another sunny but rainy day, and wanted to enjoy some engine break-in miles, so I headed up to a higher-elevation stretch of the Parkway (Blowing Rock to I77) and took some more photos at the overlooks:

Gotta admit this blue is certainly a great color. Configurator didnt to it justice so I went for black. Great pics!

Considering 1) I've had the car for 13 days, and 2) I haven't heard of Roundel Magazine, I'm thinking it's pretty unlikely it was mine!

Beware - might be useful to you to learn of the Roundel Magazine. Or more likely, join BMW CCA (which publishes the Roundel). Having been a member of the Charlotte chapter, I suspect you might find some of their drives to your liking based on your excellent trip report and enthusiasm for driving your car.

I'm envious of you guys that live in the West NC, Northern Georgia/SC and East Tennessee areas. The roads in those areas make for awesome drives. I used to drive down from NY every year until my daughter was born.

I moved from NY to FL, so went from mostly shitty pavement / somewhat enjoyable roads to mostly good pavement / uninspiring roads.

Fortunately I have 2 kids and old friends spread across NC and will be making a late summer / early fall road trip.

I agree, please join the BMW Car Club of America and add the local Charlotte Tarheel chapter. We have drives in the areas you took the pictures and meet at local restaurants. We also meet at the Virginia International Raceway for race outings and HPDE events. Also, new car purchases get $500-1000 rebates via the club.

That was mine, actually. I’m the Pete B mentioned in Rob McIsaac’s letter to the editor. I also took PCD in Spartanburg. First two nights spent in Asheville with the BMWCCA Tar Heel Chapter, then headed north to my home in NH.

I have a couple of shots of the car along the Blue Ridge Parkway, including one with a German cousin. The deep blue Porsche’s driver lived locally and gave me a couple of great twisty access roads to the Parkway that were a hoot to drive.

Another benefit of BMWCCA membership is the $500 rebate that I received from BMW. Just had to fill out a simple form and three weeks later I had their check in hand! Bigger (and more expensive) BMWs qualify for greater rebates.

I’d love to share photos, but I have spent too much time trying to submit iPhone photos that are upside down when I upload them. This happens even after I save an upside down copy of the photo, hoping the upside down photo will revert to right side up after uploading.
