My wish: Individual.

Currently no plans to trade in my 2020 F87 M2C (M-DCT) for a 2023-2024 G87 M2 (ZF8).

Ask me again when April 2025 approaches (G87 M2 LCI [facelift] start of production).

Design:
  • G87 M2 rear end: now that's some wide, bulky piece of kit - OK, no 1M Fenders Fest design, but definitely some genuine "hips don't lie" stance (hosting 20" wheels)'; 'Captain Hook'/'question mark' tail lights design;
  • G87 M2 sides: door handles sitting flush with the body (integrated - no longer 'protruding');
  • G87 M2 front end: if used to the swirling F87 M2 front end lines, the new boxy 'bare bones' lines design takes some time to sink in - still processing...

That is roughly when I plan on buying as well.

No, it was about the tail lights render.

IMHO the G87 M2 looks better than the G42 M240i. The car is next level.

This rear end pic was leaked over two months ago and only now did I notice the 'shark fin' roof antenna has a boxy shape, keeping with the rest of the cars design language.

I want the tail lights changed more than anyone for the LCI, but that has been hit or miss for other LCIs lately.

I see and that’s why you want to wait tor the LCI.I agree that they are not the greatest design.I might wait for the LCI because i’m not a fan of the idrive 8 screen.

Didn't notice that before, good catch. I don't like the shark fin antenna design so this is a plus for me

I think you may be onto something…blacking out the lower portion of the tail light.

Also the G87 M2 front end can use some "massaging".

And more in general about 'early adopting': remember what BMW has done to F87 M2 early adopters (car releases from April 16, 2016 onwards) in 2017 (LCI: new dashboard layout, different tail lights design) and 2018 (release of the Competition model, replacing the OG M2 for particular reasons, featuring several upgrades
for a relatively small extra fee).

Not saying that history will repeat itself that way with the G87 M2, but consider it unfinished business of a 2016 F87 M2 owner. Regarding the G87 M2, I'll let BMW put "Impulse" into "Life Cycle Impulse" (LCI).

My only concern with waiting for the LCI is you never know when they will stop making the manual transmission version. BMW dropped it from the MINI lineup earlier this year, so I don't think it's a guarantee it will stay for the life of the car.

I've actually done this to all my cars and it makes a world of difference.

Basically cover the taillight with clear tape and outline by hand only the clear/white area (not red). Transfer the tape over to smoked headlight/taillight vinyl wrap; they come in multiple tints from dark to light, I like something in the middle that's not too dark. I use a stencil kit to make sure the lines and curves are accurate. Then just use an exacto knife to cut it out. Make sure the lens is clean, I like to warm it with a heat gun (hairdryer will also work) before applying and working it into place. It may take you several tries to get it just right, but the end result is you get only the clear part of the lens to be smoked out yet is still transparent to let light through. The rest of the taillight stays stock and looks like the pics Artemis posted. I've also done the same on my side turn signals under the mirrors, looks awesome.

I think it's a great idea. Although the tail light looks complex, the bottom portion is actually very flat so it should be an easy job.

Not sure if you've ever worked with vinyl wrap, but when it's heated up it's super flexible and allows you to mold it into all types of complex shapes and contours. It's really easy to use and inexpensive.

Yeah I used to wrap my interior trim in the 335i...this would be even easier.
